Expiring Graduate Account
Hi, I posted on the consolidating debt page a few weeks ago and got some advice and really opened me up to the ideas. I was very nearly talked into an IVA so very happy I avoided that. Essentially I have about 4k (at the moment without further interest) of payday loans and I got desperate and went to my friends who very…

Switched banks twice in 3 weeks, bagged £275
For years I have had 2 Reward current accounts with Halifax, so decided to switch to HSBC for the £150 incentive. That was on 3rd March. By 14th March I had my £150 and on Friday 16th I saw ad about £125 deal to switch to Halifax. Good thing was you could switch to a new Reward account or an existing one (which I already…

Joint Account Credit Check
My partner and I are considering opening a basic joint account, she has a very good credit rating and mine is very poor. The account would purely be for shared household bills, food shopping etc. We would not be financially linked in any other way. We are both aware that by opening a joint account our credit files will be…

HSBC £50 12 Month Incentive Delay
I signed up for an HSBC Advance account in 27 Jan 2017, due to delays in processing the account wasn't started until 16th Feb 2017 with a switch date on 06 Mar 2017. The switch went ok and got paid the £150 incentive - all good. I've been awaiting the £50 (12 month anniversary) incentive which should have been paid by now.…

HSBC switch £150 bonus?
I applied for a switch to HSBC – for the £150 bonus yesterday, at the time they said they needed to do some routine checks before I got a decision, today I got the confirmation email that they did accept me, but its outside the deadline. My question is, as I applied before the deadline, will they honour the £150 bonus or…

I opened an account with "B online" the new account from Clydesdale bank / Yorkshire bank back in November. I got the 250 pounds for switching. I'm now planning to close the account . Has anyone done this? I don't think they can claw back the 250 pounds once its paid, right?

On-line banking and potential fraud
I have written on other threads about my elderly mother living alone, with the help of carers. She has a current bank account where her pension is paid. My concern is that any unscrupulous person with access to her house can see her paper bank statements. These show the bank address as well as account details and full name…

NatWest App now listing pending tx for credit card
The NatWest mobile app on my ipad is now listing my credit card pending transactions. I assume this also applies to the mobile app. I would have expected NatWest to have notified customers of this as it is good PR. But you never can tell with NatWest.

Hello everyone, Can someone simply open a bank account with any given bank and then switch to a bank that is offering a cash bonus? If so you could surely just do this with every bank that’s offering a cash bonus? Any thoughts? Thanks

HSBC Bank account for the £200 "trade in"
Hi I've applied online to open an HSBC account to beat the dead line for the switch bonus. I've heard nothing. My "donor" account at least sent me an email asking for further proof. Does this mean all systems are good or should I apply again before Sundays 11.59 deadline? I'm really after the (attached) regular savers…

Lloyds or Halifax bank accounts are easily stolen
I've tried to alert Lloyds but they aren't interested, so maybe if more people know they may take an interest. Or maybe I'm wrong? If you have a Lloyds or Halifax bank account it is pretty easy for someone to steal it / take control of it. They will need 3 things. Bank card (or bank sort code / account number / name on…

bank refusing to return cash
My daughter had a bank account and began having problems withdrawing cash from atm's. On going to the bank was informed they would change the card, which they did but couldn't access the money from the old account temporarily. Eventually the newer card began to block access to new transactions too and she complained. She…

HSBC: PoA, 3rd Party mandate, or Joint a/c?
Hi there, I have Power of Attorney for my elderly foster mother who lives 400 miles away from me, is housebound and completely deaf. I have not, up to now, had to register the PoA with her bank (HSBC), because she's been able to manage internet banking, read statements and sign cheques. However 'something went wrong'…
