Hi
I've applied online to open an HSBC account to beat the dead line for the switch bonus. I've heard nothing.

My "donor" account at least sent me an email asking for further proof.

Does this mean all systems are good or should I apply again before Sundays 11.59 deadline?

I'm really after the (attached) regular savers account 5% rate. the £150/£200 switch is a bonus (literally!!)

My mother and I opened a joint HSBC account for the switch bonus and regular saver.

It says on the HSBC site that you can have one regular saver per customer. Does this mean we can have one each or is "customer" in this case the two of us?

    Thanks.

I think you only be offered one per account as it is a joint account, maybe you should have opened individual accounts

Thanks for your reply. I tried applying on my own a few years ago and was declined. Though I could have funded the £1,750 easily from different bank accounts, I think they were put off by the fact my salary wasn't enough to cover the pay-in on its own so I tried joining forces with my mother and we got the account open in two days. :T

Anyway, I tried phoning and got an answer from the horse's mouth. It is OK to have one regular saver for me and one for my mother. :D

    Thanks again.

What was the outcome of your application? If they said that it had been accepted then don't worry: they don't send a confirmation email or text message. If it said that they needed to carry out more checks then you could contact them to find out what the situation is.

Each joint account holder is a customer of the bank so that they can each have a regular saver - this is also true of an FD joint account.

Didn't have a "refusal" as I remember when I applied (on the 20th), So I'll just sit tight for a few more days. Best get myself into the donor bank in anticipation that all has gone well.

Did you get an email thanking you for applying for the account?

This will show the date the account was opened. If you havent had this email then maybe its in your spam box, or the account has declined. Worth calling to find out especially as the date closed yesterday.

Contact details for HSBC are 03457 404 404 (for existing customers try this one first, and see if they can find the application) they will then either transfer you to non HSBC customer line or be able to answer your question.

They are open 24 hours for HSBC advance customers so you can call them at anytime.
