Just seen your post Westie983. Will give them a ring shortly. Thanks for the info. I'll let you know what happens!

  • @Westie983. And just phoned, Account details should be with me the 30/03 or 03/04 at the latest.

Account opened on the 22nd apparently.

    Many thanks for your help.

Oh, and I'm up for the £200 (total) switch bonus.

Did you get an email thanking you for applying for the account?

This will show the date the account was opened. If you havent had this email then maybe its in your spam box, or the account has declined. Worth calling to find out especially as the date closed yesterday.

Contact details for HSBC are 03457 404 404 (for existing customers try this one first, and see if they can find the application) they will then either transfer you to non HSBC customer line or be able to answer your question.

They are open 24 hours for HSBC advance customers so you can call them at anytime.

The OP's issue has been resolved, but for the benefit of anyone else who might be in a similar position and reading this thread for information, HSBC don't send an e-mail when you apply.

Which, I think, sadly leaves you in the air. Any other account I've opened has responded by email/text message. Not with account details but with a "we've received and accepted/need more info/rejected your application" type of message. Then at least you know where you stand. But banks do move in mysterious ways sometimes/always.

Maybe it should be something that HSBC should consider.

And yes, my issue has been resolved. Thread can be locked if need be.

I agree that it is poor. There is at least one other bank where I have had the same issue, but I can't remember which right now. It wouldn't be difficult for them to send an email.
