HSBC & Young people.
(The young person is not me - I'm 71) My 22 year old grandson is an Aspergers sufferer who has fought his way into a very good, well paid career and a very nice flat. He has been trying to get HSBC, his first and only bank, to recognise him as an adult and change his account to reflect that. Many times over the last 4…

Changes in HSBC
Much preferred the old HSBC layout . May have missed it but dont think they have even taken the opportunity to put the going interest rate on your various accounts , either , which woud have been an improvement. I thought about a year ago, it was going to be a legal requirement to state interest rate on your actual account…

Pay someone new without a card reader
This in my inbox just now, allegedly from NatWest. "Pay someone new without a card reader". It looks very genuine, and who knows, it probably is. Would you click on either of the two download buttons and download some stuff that allows payments of up to £250 to be made to new payees, without you needing to confirm the new…

'When it comes to MoneySaving, here at MSE Towers we know what we’re talking about. I’ve been here over five years, and the lengths some people go to bag a bargain still astound me...' Read MSE Sally's full blog: 'Handbags? Luxury toilet roll? What are your guilty – but still MoneySaving –…

Should I switch to TSB?
I am trying to decide whether to switch my bank account to TSB and wondered whether they are to be recommended? I am currently with First Direct but I find their banking app inconvenient to use and they don't offer the type of mortgage I need. Any advice and good or bad experiences would be appreciated as I just can't…

Santander Standard Debit Card Transaction Issues
Hi All I am really perplexed as to what has been happening with my Santander account. A couple months ago I noticed that payments (standing orders, direct payments) were showing up in my account and available the day BEFORE they were due. Joint bank account for Bills
Hello My partner and myself are buying our first place and we would like a joint bank account for our bills etc. We don't want to switch as we also want to keep our own accounts what is the best one out there for new "non-switching" customers on a HSBC mortgage? I was looking at the Natwest £3pm Rewards account. I think…

Unplanned overdraft charges
Hi I have a lloyds account with no overdraft facility. An insurance company I had used last year renewed my policy automatically which sent me into unplanned overdraft. I wasn't aware of this and didnt consent to the renewal at the time. Lloyds charged me £10 a day for this plus other fees until I paid money into the…

Credit card ping
I know that certain companies 'ping' your credit card account for £1 just to check that it's genuine, but this seems to be happening on a quite regular basis with ours. It's with MBNA and shows a 'pending transaction' of £1 about once every three months. It disappears after about a week. The thing is that we paid off the…

Barclays Blue Reward no longer taxed
The Barclays Reward scheme pays you £7 per month less a fee of £3 if you satisfied the prerequisites of 2 direct debits and £800 paid in a month This gave you £4 a month or £48 a year However it was a particularly poor deal as tax was applied to the £7 and not the £4 benefit so for most people this meant : £7 * 0.8 = £5.60…

Payment of £86.22 in but don't know who from?
Last week a payment was made directly into my bank account within a reference that makes no sense to me and for the amount of £86.22. I'm a regular checker of my online account and I noticed this straight away as I am not due any incoming payments or amendments to ones I am expecting soon. I rang Halifax who said they have…

Are Santander deliberately stalling customers from moving away from them?
Since the interest rate dropped on the Santander 123 account, I moved money away, only for Santander to block account. Then had to do a 20 minute interrogation with their pathetic and rude online security customer team to sort this. I was assured that the transfer would go ahead. 10 minutes later, I get another landline…

Extra Accounts for switching
I've switched a couple of current accounts for switching bonuses. I switched my long held (yeah, I know) but little used Natwest account to FD and set up a Flex account in addition to my Flex Direct and switched it to M&S. I've since set-up a RBS account with the intention of switching it to HSBC but have not heard from…
