Help closing my halifax reward account
I have a halifax reward account with an overdraft and it's costing me a fortune every month in bank charges, I can't afford to keep up with them as they charge me £5 a day as I'm going over because the charges are making me go over. How do I freeze my account and close it ?

Waiting to hear from First Direct...
I applied for a First Direct current account last week and I was told that they would consider my application further, then get back to me. It's been almost 7 days, but I still haven't heard from them. Anyone know if this is normal? Should I try applying again? I don't have a reference number in my emails or anything.

Batch overdraft charges
Hi all My bank today decided to charge me 5 overdraft fees in one go covering November last year to July this year. There is nothing in my terms and conditions stating they will or won't do this. I am not disputing the charges because they are correct but I do think it is unfair they have decided to do it all in one go.…

10 minutes on hold at smile
Smile managed to lock my card in July and it won't unlock at a co-op machine (even though that what they told my to do). Gave up after 10 minutes on hold which was after going around their silly phone menu system. So glad I open a first direct account a few years ago.

Banks fees: extortionate EAR interest rate?
Banks such as Barclays are moving away from charging an EAR Effect Annual interest Rate. eg. 19.3% and, charging a fee. See their "Changes to overdrafts and ways to avoid fees". I'd like to calculate the equivalent EAR. So if I go overdrawn by £20 for one day, and have to pay their 75p fee, what is the equivalent interest…
