Help closing my halifax reward account

I have a halifax reward account with an overdraft and it's costing me a fortune every month in bank charges, I can't afford to keep up with them as they charge me £5 a day as I'm going over because the charges are making me go over.

How do I freeze my account and close it ?

I guess you will have to bring the account to a balanced state and then you can go into a branch and ask them to close it.

You'll need to bring your account into credit (even if it's £0.00) and clear all pending charges, then they'll close the account.

If you can't afford to clear the charges then you need to discuss it with a member of staff, maybe they'll change the account type (not sure whats available)

OP. how much is your overdraft, how long until you can pay it off, what have you discussed with Halifax regarding paying off the OD?

You might get a lot of help with your financial affairs if you post an SOA on the Debt Free Wannabe board. It might also be chaeper to get a zero % Super Balance Transfer card or a loan -- - but Debtfree Wammabee will be able to tell you more.
  • Either:

    1) Pay lots of money in to stop being overdrawn.

    Or

    2) Talk to them.
