Requesting bank statements from bank in Spain
Hi I've a family friend who has moved back to the UK after living in Spain for years after the death of her husband. She needs the last two months statements in order to claim some benefits (she is over 75 so not going to work!). Her previous bank is in Spain and I'm wondering if anyone has been in this position before or…

I currently bank with Northern Bank and so do the company I work for (although at different branches). I expect to get my wages cheque tomorrow, but it always takes a full working day to go into my account. So on a normal week I'd go to the bank on Wednesday and the money would be through on the Friday, obviously thats a…

Debit Card Fraud
Hi, I recently had some fradulent activity on my debit card , mainly mobile phone top ups to o2 (online). My bank contacted me fairly quickly and have since cancelled my Debit Card. My question is, is this enough? Should I be looking into cancelling my account or doing anything else. Thanks

Joint bank account
Myself and my partner are having a baby later this year. We're keen to sort out a joint bank account which we can use for household bills and groceries, though we will each keep separate current accounts for our salaries, and personal outgoings, plus our own separate savings accounts. Really we just want something we can…

Reclaiming fraudulent direct debits
I've just wasted several hours reclaiming fraudulent direct debits so I will unvent my anger slightly by explaining how to do it. Basically what happened was that direct debits to O2, Vodafone, and TMTI (a phone insurance company) turned up on the bank statements of a charity account I am treasurer of (NB memo to…

Piggybanking
I am thinking about moving my accounts around slightly. Currently I have one account with money for car tax, holidays, Xmas etc in and a spreadsheet to track what all the money is for. I was thinking of changing to have an account for each thing, so I didn't have to update a spreadsheet all the time, the balance would be…

Beware Paypal
Have had an issue over the weekend with Paypal. Paid for something on ebay via this account only to be emailed by Paypal to say that my payment had been declined. Utter nonsense. Paypal told me to contact my bank, which I did. My bank advised that this was incorrect and that Paypal were having technical difficulties. The…

I am at that stage of my life when I need to review my finances. :rotfl: I have a current account and savings account in my sole name, which I have held for 10 years, and wanted to add my husband's name so that he can run the account if necessary. We saw a member of staff who took all our details (my husband had a previous…

Student overdrafts and credit rating
Hey guys. I'm a student in my first year at uni. I've got a £1000 overdraft on my student account, and was just wondering whether it is bad for my credit rating to be using this? It's just it makes sense to use as it's 0%, as opposed to taking money out my savings account, as I could be earning interest on that. Unless…

Debit refund showing as money out?
I bought some goods last Thursday on my Santander debit card. I then returned 2 items as they weren't suitable 2 days later. I received the debited refund slip and thought no more about it. On checking on-line banking today I noticed the refund was showing as a debit not a credit. I rang the bank and was told as it was…

Contacting Norwich & Peterborough at weekends
I need to contact N&P if I'm to use my debit card tomorrow in Europe. Unfortunately, it seems that their Contact Centre, unlike almost every other bank/BS, only works a five-day week. The only 24/7 number I have found is for lost cards and that's an independent agency, not N&P. Anyone know a number? Anyone know if I will…

Debit Card Payment
Hi, Just wondering.... I made an online purchase in January this year with Game. The money usually comes out of the bank account the day they post the game. This time round they didn't even put a hold on the money and no money was taken. In March I phoned Game and told them the money hadn't been taken and was there a…
