The disadvantages of closing accounts you don't use anymore???
I'm sure my question has been answered before but I cannot find anything using the search function. Would someone kindly direct me to the relevant thread or provide an answer? I've had accounts with a particular bank for more than five years. I've moved all my banking elsewhere now. Will I be disadvantaged in any way by…

First Direct, interesting dilemma!
I'm 18, and applied for a 1st account, savings account and credit card in March for First Direct. I didn't have much on my credit file, so got declined. I wasn't aware you had to wait 6 months before reapplying, so I reapplied yesterday for a 1st account and savings. I phoned First Direct up an hour after my application,…

Expired Dividend Cheques
Had a clear out here and am very ashamed to say that I have found 8 dividend cheques that have expired (1 was issued 7 years ago!!). My 13 year old (soon to be 14, going on 25, LOL) son has been taking a lot of interest in our financial processes recently and has started to help me find good car insurance, house insurance, he understands credit cards etc. Hopefully we're educating him the "moneysaving" way. He now wants to open his own bank account and…

Charged £71 interest on a paid-off overdraft
Hi all. I apologise if this is on the wrong forum, this is my first post here. I'll try to keep the story short! I took out a £300 overdraft with Abbey in (roughly) April last year. At the time I was working part time but had to quit in July, and was unable to find a new job until October. To cut to the chase, I ended up…
