natwest horror-best new bank account
broke
i am in the process of reclaiming bank charges on hardship grounds from natwest with whom i have an overdraft of £2000 which due to my poor financial situation is always almost at its limit (incidently the total of bank charges incurred over the past 6 years is more than £2000 so i see this debt as a direct result of those charges) Anyway i held two accounts with Natwest one of which i closed as i had no debt on it. however natwest committed an error and responded with a letter referencing a request to close the OTHER account that i did not make. also from that moment i was not able to use my card or internet banking facilities. as i live in spain and have very little money it has caused me a huge amount of difficulty to not be able to access the availiable money in this natwest account. they accepted this letter was sent in error but responded to my complaint about the accounts function stating that it was all working normally. as this was not true i had to write again and am waiting on a reply which i have not yet recieved however it seems that they are sending a new card and have reinstated a dd that they cancelled so admitting finally the error. however i have been a month without access to my money which has caused me problems is there anything i can do to follow a complaint about this although i doubt i am entitled to compensation for this injustice as it is difficult to prove the effects (quality of life re: less food, more stress, having to find a way to borrow money, admin costs from spain) but i am livid and want to know if i natwest can be asked to offer anything more than an aplology.
also as i work in uk and spain (artist) i need a uk bank account that 1/ will not cause so many problems 2/ i can access from internet is there one that anyone can please recommend as i do not want any money to be paind into my natwest account for fear of losing access to it -until either they refund the charges or i can clear the debt and terminate forever my relationship with this abhorrent institution. any advice would be apprieciated thanks

I have had bank accouts with TSB bank, Halifax, First Direct, Alliance & Leicester, Royal Bank of Scotland, Nationwide, Clydesdale Bank and the Co-Op bank. I would recommend them all. They are all much of a much now. All pretty much the same. Just wait till one offers an incentive and switch. You get paid a wee bit for doing nothing much really. Good luck!0
