smile current account down to 3.04%
Smile have shaved 0.25% off their current account interest rate, down to 3.04% from 3.3%, effective 6th January. Their website has the new rate tucked away under interest rates - but no sign of an e-mail to announce it. I know they didn't change the rate at the time of the last base rate reduction but this still stinks!

Martin's Money tip for CurrAcc
I see in Martin's moneytips he suggests either A&L or LTSB for best rate and a bonus sign up (no one is recommending me so don't I get bonus with A&L?) I see you need to pay in £1000/mnth to qualify for both but I read somewhere the A&l only needs 500/mnth. Also do you need to have your salary paid into it or can you…

Monthly budget and new house - are we cutting it too fine?
We are first time buyers and just about to make an offer on a house. It is a bit beyond our budget, so wanted advice as to whether we are being over cautious or should be ok. If we had to pay the full asking price we would then have as outgoings: 644 mortgage (we are putting down 25% deposit, and this is just under 3.7…
