Will I Eventually Get An Upgrade??

Hi
Applied for an A&L premier current account 2 weeks ago, but was only accepted for a normal current account with chequebooks and Electron card  I have a full facility account with the Woolwich and have always had one with cheque guarantee cards etc. This was a joint application with OH, and although he has no bad credit, he has little credit history as everything is normally in my name.
I called A&L and asked whether they did upgrades after seeing the account running smothly etc for a while, and the lady said that they do
I need a proper debit card that can be used online shopping as Im disabled and dont get out often and depend on home deliveries. Im not comfortable moving all my DD's over from the Woolich to the new account untill its a full acount IYKWIM. So, what I was thinking of doing is: moving over £800-£1000pm from my woolwich account to the new A&L account monthly, then using this amount to pay my Visa bill (probably by cheque), which is what I do anyway, but would mean that they can see cash going in and out of the new account.
Do you think this would be enough cash going in and out monthly to upgrade to a full account eventually? Also, how long roughly will it take to be upgraded? Has anyone been in a similar situation before
I have received the chequebooks and pin numbers already, just waiting on the cards.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

Hi,
Personally, I would insist on having the correct and facilities that you need before transferring. I went through something similar with Nationwide and in the end it turned out that the account could not be upgraded and I had to open a new one with them, they then gave me the full facilities. I was not bothered about this as there were no direct debits etc on the account so it did not affect me.
If you are prepared to move all your direct debits etc, why not just try another bank? Preferably one that’s offering you incentives to join like Lloyds (4% interest, minimum 1k a month deposit).
It sounds like it’s particularly important in your case that you get the correct facilities. Doing a couple of applications won’t have much affect on your credit history so you probably have nothing to lose by trying. If you are concerned that something may be affecting your credit history, you can get copies of your credit reports from Equifax, Experian and CallCredit for £2 each. Your partner would also need to do the same so that he can check his history.
Hope this helps,
