Connection help please...
We have been running a Humax PVR 9200T successfully for a few years and now wish to add a Youview to the system and not quite sure how to link in the Youview. We also have 2 Comtrend powerline adapters that we used in our previous home with our BT Home Hub and BT Vision. Looking at the instruction manual there is one…

Is it me, or is the broadband supply system broken?
Here's my understanding: When you have broadband on a given phone line, the provider "tags" the line to gain exclusive access. This means you cannot have broadband from more than one provider, and you also cannot change provider without migrating. It is impossible for a new broadband provider to supply broadband without…

Are companies like Tescobroadband
obliged to refund any closing balance automatically? I assumed they would and 3 months later cancelled the direct debit. When they got huffy about this I checked my account and low and belold they owed me £15.10 still. They refused to pay it back without a new DD. Given that 1) there is nothing in the T&Cs covering refunds…

Boosting my wifi signal?
With the cooler nights drawing in, I've adopted a very MSE habit of retiring to bed earlier - taking the iPad with me. This has made me realise how weak my wifi signal is. I'm tired of losing what I'm doing every 5 minutes if I dare move....What's the easiest/cheapest way to boost the signal please? (Idiot-proof is good…

I have 8 or 9 months left on my contract so think that I need to stick with BT and get Unlimited Infinity 1.* Do I have any other sensible options i.e. am I likely to lose too much money in fees if I try to swap providers? * If I upgrade to Unlimited Infinity 1…

Need internet access for a one-off event
I work for a small charity, and later this month we are running an auction. We'd like to offer internet access so that people can make payments online, we tried to get a card reader last year but that didn't work out. It's possible we'll be able to use the venue's wifi, but if not, we need a working dongle. I have an old…

Yahoo mail new format
Has anyone worked out how to sort in alphabetical order. Yahoo have once again changed their email format and it seems you can sort most ways except alphabetical - doesn't make a lot of sense. Why don't they ask what we would like instead of just changing for changes sake!!!

should i switch wifi box off every night
I always switch the wifi box off every night and switch it on when I want it next. Most days but sometimes it isn't switched on for a few days. My son has just said that I don't need to do do this any more as it uses very little electricity and it is better to leave the line 'open' all the time. Is he right? I use BT for…
