Self employed - injury/disability allowance?
I've been self employed for 14 years and work from home (I repair circuit boards). This obviously requires the extensive use of and full function of my hands. On and off over the past couple of years I've experienced wrist problems (when rotating the wrists, mainly the right (I'm right-handed)). I've also recently started…

I moved away from England a few years back and now live in Scotland, so I'm unsure of the changes (if any) in what help people can get these days and how they differ across the border. My brothers situation: * He works part time earning £100-150 per week cash in hand *…

Tax credits over payments
Hi My wife and I had a tax credit over payment about 5 years ago. Last year our income dramatically dropped so we started to claim tax credits again. We also started a payment agreement with HMRC to repay the overpayment. This year we found we had been under payed around £900 in tax credits. So HMRC took this overpayment…

Tax credits demanding debt repaid from 2008
Hi there, I have received a letter from tax credits saying I owe money from 2008. This is the first I have heard of it or been asked to pay it back. I phoned them today and they say they sent a letter out in 2008 but I did not get it. I moved address around the time so that's probably why. They are saying if I don't repay…

Carer's Allowance and Respite
A friend of mine is a carer for her Dad and will be taking a much deserved rest with her kids during school holidays. Her Dad will need to go into respite as he is unable to look after himself fully. Does she need to tell DWP about this change in circumstances? It will only be for a week. Is there any chance that this…

Reduced WTC taper point ? Confused ??
Sorry if this has been mentioned before - the very minimum amount of hours for WTC is 16 and often its a lot more ! 16 x £6.50 ( NMW) = £104 per week x 52 weeks is £5408 So how can the taper point be around £3800 ? Who on earth can earn that amount under the rules ? Am I missing something ?

Changes to Child Tax Credit
I've seen on the bbc website today that Labour are very much against many of the changes to tax credits, and plan to oppose them. Are these changes almost certain to happen, or do they require a vote or something in the Commons? Could Labour prevent some of the changes from taking place? Thanks

Early Tax Credits

It would be difficult to go because of being needed here. Just wondered what my rights are? Thank you!
