Hi All, Background: My new partner has two children and claims working tax credit (16 hours per week). At the moment we live separately. I'm claiming contribution based ESA. My flat has just sold for £100 K ( it was mortgage free). We are planning to live together short term when the sale goes through, and look for a…

Maternity Pay with 2 employers
Hi, please could anyone advise me. I have two employers, workin part-time for each. I am due to take maternity leave mid November. I was originally told that only one employer had to apply for the statatory mat pay as it would automatically work out 90% of my gross earnings for the first 6 weeks and then reduce to the…

Entitlement to CHB and tax credits, moving abroad.
Hi. Myself and my family are emigrating to POrtugal soon. I am able to claim Child tax credit as have been on maternity leave since May 2011. Would I be entitled to anything, or shall I carry on struggling?
Hi everyone I'm off work with depression at the mo, I knew that a big downer was coming as I can just tell. I am on 150mg of sertraline and have been seen by a psychiatrist (sp?). I just don't seem to be getting any better, I barely have the energy to tidy up and do the housework, let alone go to work. Would there be…

Council Tax - I've been stoopid!
Hi, My first post on this site... here goes! I have been checking through my accounts to work out where to save money. Finances in not too bad shape, but I have noticed that both me and my husband have a monthly direct debit set up to pay our council tax, so we have been paying double on this bill for a number of years…

Going back to work.
Hi all, This has probably been answered on several occasions but I just want a little clarification towards my personal circumstances. My partner and I have been claiming JSA on a couples claim since October 2010, and we have been receiving Housing Benefit. I got told yesterday that I have (FINALLY!) found a job!! I'll be…

ESA, and reasonable adjustments on the work programme
I was curious who's responsibility it is to make sure reasonable adjustments and/or assessments are done for any work placements on the work programme. Ordinarily you would request this from the employer and the Human resources team would make an appointment to assess your disability and/or needs. But in this case it's a…

They lost my housing benefit claim
Hello. I need some advice on my housing benefit claim. On the DWP website, you can apply for JSA, housing benefit and council tax benefit all at once. I did this around the last week of june. I've been receiving JSA for the entire period. Every time I went to sign on at the job centre, I would ask them how my housing…

Reclaiming Reduced Council Tax
Not sure of the correct forum for this. So I was rather disorganised in the past and have just dug around and noticed that while a student from 2005-2008 I never informed Wandsworth I was a student. For the last two years of that period I lived with just my partner so I was entitled to a reduction but I never applied for…

Housing Benefit - buying a flat for our disabled daughter
Hi All, hopefully some experts on HB rules for renting to family members out there! The advice we've found on-line generally makes sense but the indications from our local benefits office don't seem to agree so we are dreading getting their finding on our daughters HB claim. The storey (shortened version) is that our…

Whats counted as savings?
Hi all I'm really worried about my job at work. Nothing specific at the moment but things have been quiet and the pipeline for the company seems quiet. Repayment of Suspended Benefits
Hi, a friend of mine has been under investigation by the Benefit Agency and Child tax Credits. Malicious reports were made that she was still living with her ex partner and doing work for cash in hand.
