There is currently a message on the web site saying "We are aware of the current issue with our website affecting some customers. We are working to correct this. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and are grateful to our customers for their patience. Our call centres are open 24/7 and we expect the Bonds to be on sale for months rather than weeks. "

"Any server in the world can be brought to a halt if enough people keep requesting it. That's how a DOS attack works."
but most DOS attacks are unexpected. There has been nearly a year's build up to this, and NS&I knew the date and time before we did.0 -

If they know it's going to be a lottery they could have drawn the tickets in advance, and then allocated them in a fair and orderly way.
NS&I have clearly said:
"We expect the 65+ Bonds to be on sale for months not weeks and would like to reassure savers that there is no need to rush to invest." https://twitter.com/NSIpressoffice
So why the hysteria? Instead of wasting hours of their lives they'll never get back, why not just try again tomorrow or next week?0 -

The hysteria is because up to today the message has been that this is a limited issue and will sell out fast.Take my advice at your peril.0 -
Well, I've just managed to get a 3 yr bond online, but it was hard work, ........
me too, but no hard work here, just needed to be patient. Dealt with some emails and file updating in parallel.
No email received but money has left my account OK.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
Has anyone who has bought a bond online received their e mail confirmation yet? My application crashed during the payment stage of the application process but the money (£10k) has gone from my account but online can't show the transaction yet other than that sum has been withdrawn. I would have thought e mail confirmation was instantaneous!
Yes, my email was, as you say, instantaneous.
In fact, it was the fastest bit of the whole process.
I also switched from Chrome after a few hanging pages, and was successful with Firefox.0 -
Hi,The hysteria is because up to today the message has been that this is a limited issue and will sell out fast.
yes,
The government-backed savings institution will be offering £10billion of specialist Pensioner Bonds offering fixed savings rates of 2.8% over one year and 4% over three.
so, better be quick with your £10,000.0 -

Why not give some credence to the message from NS&I instead? It will eventually sell out, I have no doubt, but that doesn't mean you have to panic just because you can't get it sorted out within hours of its release on the first day. It's like the nutters queuing up for hours for the latest i-phone0 -

Many others have clearly gained the impression the Bond will sell out fast; otherwise there would not have been such a rush to purchase.Take my advice at your peril.0 -
