My how times have changed

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right section to post under anymore. I'm an oldy who disappeared and has now returned to find my old thread closed due to neglect I'm sure. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/580087=
I had a big old read and found myself quite emotional about how my life has changed.
How life changes in 6 years.
The OH I spoke of in that post is long gone, as is the boyfriend of a few years that followed him.
I was made redundant, found a new job, got diagnosed with ME (which I'm pretty sure is now beaten - fingers crossed) but at the time was debilitating, signed on for 2 weeks but decided it really wasn't for me, went self employed so I could cope and am now back working again for the same company I was made redundant from! Under a different name, them not me.
Got rid of the gas guzzler car, got a run around, that died, got given a car, that died this year and I was back in a position to buy a new car (although not under my finance).
I have moved 5 times!
Got made bankrupt which at the time was the most depressing thing as I had made a dent of around 23k to my shameful debt. I'm glad I made a real effort to pay it back but to think that if I had done it straight away I would be credit file clear now.
Having lurked for a few months recently and then reading someones thread avidly from 2011 I thought I would come back.
My finances are now on track (pretty much), expenses are sensible, have a decent amount left over each month and am in what I hope to be secure accommodation. Have a new partner, am 4 weeks away from giving birth, the little one is 11 in November. I think I'm around to up my income and be a domestic goddess / working mother of 2!
My only debts are some money to my mother - which isn't fixed or required less than 2k as and when.
The other is a credit card which last night went up to £283 due to me buying the last few baby bits in preparation and will be cleared in a couple of weeks. Had the money been in my account I would have paid on debit.
I'm trying to fix my credit file also, so putting small payments on the card (I don't include £283 as small by the way) and clearing it over the minimum payment.
Have noticed a few discrepancies with an old egg credit card that was included in the bankruptcy, now seems to show on my file as a default with Barclaycard. Need to have a good look at that forum for some templates.
So this is me welcoming myself back. I hope not to disappear again and that I am welcome on the debt free wannabe board still. I still have that frame of mind, which is probably best as I have lived frugally for the last 6 years. So ramble on I shall.

Welcome back from me. It's encouraging to hear you have turned things round.0

Thank you so much. My first task is to get motivated.
I have been idling recently after a tough 6 months and I need to get back up and running.
As my eldest is off at tennis each morning I have no need to be up at the crack of dawn doing school runs, but I really should be up earlier than 45 mins before work starts. I am somewhat hindered by getting up multiple times in the night to go to the loo but that is my own making and is clearly 8 months worth of training for a newborn again.
So the first challenge - wake up by 8.30am.0 -
Morning,
Amazingly I'm up, having finally fallen asleep at 4am, slightly spurred on by Sky finally coming out to see why I haven't been able to watch tv for a week.
Not very MSE having Sky but did get offered a years breakdown cover for the price of one engineer call out.
Goal for the day aside from working is to shuffle my daughters bedroom and put the cot together. Oh and scan some paperwork to send an email that has been due over a week.
Have a great start to your day everyone.0 -
Sky have been and gone, kids kicking balls apparently has knocked the dish. Lovely sky man, got his life history.
Have paid into my gas and electric accounts - now to get on with some real work.0 -

Thank you Buzzyzoe and Asparagus for your lovely messages.
Today I have ground to a slight halt, the sun was calling me. I did however manage to get the documents scanned and email sent.
Tomorrows task is to wake up at a sensible time again, blitz the bedroom and build the cot, along with work.0 -
Good morning,
Where did the sun go? Nature's alarm clock saw me awake at 8 with the thunder overhead. Have made a start on work and shuffling the bedroom.
Have a good day!0 -
