Not very MSE having Sky but did get offered a years breakdown cover for the price of one engineer call out.
Just a note that Sky will always fix equipment faults for a standard £60 call-out fee, and they will often reduce that, or occasionally fix for free (although I think the latter two only if you are on a premium channel package).
The reason being that if you can't watch their channels you will want to cancel and they will lose a lot more than £60!0 -
Good luck today Roxy-hope it all goes well!!:)0

Hi G_attril - I will remember that come renewal time, I'm not usually one for buying individual policies. I should've thought about it too as many times I've cancelled in the past and had very good offers to come back. I wish they would offer me cheap sports.
Pinkyfuzz - Thank you. All didn't quite go to plan for a variety of reasons and ended up having a c-section. Have been home since wednesday and have a lovely little girl to add to my lovely big girl.
Have had a little normality and paid my bills for the month, I still hadn't been paid when I was in hospital - I think this MSE is well and truly embedded. Bills paid, chunk off the credit card, 52 week challenge paid, 13% achieved in 1% challenge and a bottle of Head & Shoulders finished.0 -
Congratulations! :-) I too joined quite some time ago and have just returned to the boards. Good luck x0

Haven't done much today other than read threads. Midwife came over - weight being put on baby so all happy. Mum and nan came over to meet little one, with my big one.
Bless parents no matter how old you get they're there to help out when needed.0 -
Hi
Currently living the night owl life. The joys of being awake every few hours is actually manageable. Little one isn't even awake but I suspect she will be soon for a feed so staying awake for a bit. Sod's law would have it that if j shut my eyes she'll wake in minutes.
Have spent today relaxing a bit. Paid some more off the credit card. 1% challenge percentage is up.
Yesterday my gas and electric bills came through. I pay into the account the equivalent of £10 each week for these. Last quarter my gas bill was nasty and had to put it on my credit card, so upped my payments to £15. Well I have been pleasantly surprised. Electric is £80 in credit and gas is a whopping £250 in credit so can forgo some payments next month and clear more. That or put aside for birthdays and Christmas that are soon coming.
Speaking of birthdays my eldest wants a specific electric toothbrush and I said it would never happen as it is £200. Well I'm signed up to secret sales and they have it for £90 ish. Couldn't decide on a model so did a google and boots also have it for the same knock down discount. Not so secret now.
I hear a little person.0 -
Currently having a cuppa tea and some ginger biscuits while I check through the finances.
Successfully managed the school run this morning for the first time since the new addition via the petrol station. This afternoon may not be so simple as I will have to actually get out the car.
Feel quite motivated today with having to get up and out for the first time in weeks. Will see how long I can keep going for with house tidying and such like before I crash as was up half the night.
Washing machine man due this morning to come and investigate an intermittent fault. Making use of that new policy.0 -
:jGo Roxy, Go!
I am cheering you on from the depths of a sickbed, only emerging to do the minimum necessary to ensure the family keeps ticking over... oh well, at least the cat is happy!0 -
Thanks graneriesgirl. I hope you're feeling better.
Many years ago I had a mortgage and when things went very wrong with an ex I transferred it into my parents name, worried that he would some how be able to take some claim over the property despite only just about living there and contributing Nowt.
I was then made redundant some years later and made a very hard decision to move out, hand the keys to mum and dad and told them to rent it out as they would get more money. Meanwhile I hung my head in shame, rented a dodgy little flat with my daughter, claimed housing benefit while looking for work and managed to get myself a job in the new area.
Fast forward to yesterday, the first property was mortgage free in 4 years and following many talks it was decided it had too much history for me to move back there. Yesterday it completed on a sale. At a nice profit for my parents too. Feels like the end of an era.
Seeing mum at the weekend she was talking tvs for herself as hers is quite old and starting to have some interesting shadows. She suddenly comes out with oh we need to talk. So here's me thinking ahh are they going to offer to buy me a tv. No. She said that she doesn't want any more payments for the new car (finance in her name).
I feel so absolutely blessed. That will disappear 13k from my signature. Mums are the best.
My mum is one of these people that if she can see that you are helping yourself, when she can, she will help you.
That's my good news for the month. I will still pay her back the £1500 for last years car insurance. But it does free up some £245 a month for me. Might even put aside for a new tv or that rainy day.0
