Money Moral Dilemma: Should I ask my partner to pay me for childcare?

This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks...
My partner and I split nursery costs 50/50 while we're both at work, but I only work part-time and look after our little one for the other two days a week. Obviously I don't get paid for those days - is it fair if I ask my other half to pay towards what it would cost to put them in nursery?

In what way are you partners ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

No. If you want more money coming in, then work more hours and split the full childcare costs, as agreed."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0

When you're off work, is it your money or your partners money paying for your home, bills etc.
The pay off being able to afford to go part time is that you've enough money as a household to be comfortable. As another poster has said, you could go to work full time and keep the 50:50 split if it means that much to you.0 -
If you're partners surely it all goes into the same pot anyway so what would it matter?
Plus why should you get paid to look after your own children? Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

These moral dilemmas get more and more ridiculous!0

Well you could ask your other half, and then your other half can tell you what seems fair.
But I'd bear in mind that your other half could well think it's only fair for both of you to work part-time.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
I am really confuddled as to what the OP is even asking?
So the OP (or the 'moneysaver' who is asking ) wants her partner to PAY her to look after her OWN CHILD?
Maybe her partner should ask her for money when he gives her a lift in the car too...
Or maybe he should invoice her when he puts a shelf up? You know, for the labour....
Is this some kind of wind-up?
Serious question.0 -
Really? Are they that bored at MSE Towers that this is the best fake scenario they could come up with?
They just get more ridiculous.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
