well I am confused ....yesterday the other two tesco/adsa pricecheck threads went crazy for a bit because this £20 limit was brought in , then removed, causing mass confusion. I then read the article on here and in the papers saying the £20 limit was back in place .
so what is going on Mr T ? is there a limit or not ?
If there is ... then two bottles of turner road wine will now put you over the dtd limit of £20 , so I for one will be reverting to shopping at aldi/waitrose/lidl/sainsburys where I can get better quality goods at reasonable prices and I don't have to go out of my way to get there ! Mr T had nearly got me back shopping there with this dtd offering , but now they are trying to get out of paying up on items where they are clearly and unjustifiably more expensive , I have to say they have probably pushed me further away .
Personally , looking at the size of their profits last year , and the negative PR they will likely generate from "moving the goal posts" mid offer , I would have thought it would have been more sensible and profitable long term to lower the prices of those items that were causing the large dtd on some shopping baskets . They surely collate the info from all the dtd shops input on their system , it wouldn't take much to find the items they overcharge on and bring the price down in line with adsa , thus solving the problem for them and making them the cheapest , which would in turn bring in more customers .

Hi moonpixiewitch,

After a bit of confusion, it seems that the £20/shop maximum is here to stay, but they won't be applying it retrospectively, as they briefly did yesterday.

Anyone who checked a voucher for a shop made before the rule change (Thursday first thing), and saw it capped at £20, should see the full amount if they check again now.

If I was in ASDA's marketing dept I would making full use of this rare Tesco blunder. To bring in a competing price guarantee and then have to cap it because they were losing money on it is a PR gift.

So there is no point putting together a basket costing more than £10 more than an ASDA basket any more?

So the ideal basket would cost £20 in Tesco and £10 in Asda and thus be effectively free?

Can you return the wine having used the voucher?

The extra cap – to sit alongside the £100 a month limit – affects anyone who uses the guarantee from yesterday but is not retrospective.

It is being applied retrospectively though, as it clearly stated a £100 per voucher limit when did my shop and when i entered my vouchers yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

So unless i get the full amount on my vouchers today i cannot see how they can say this.

Basically repeating my previous post, but if you check the tesco pricechecker thread you'll see that they reinstated the £100 voucher limit yesterday afternoon and it was definitely in place yesterday morning as well. Tesco are lieing!

You really would have thought Tesco would learn by now that any promotion of this type would be hugely exploited here on MSE and PTS, so you put the checks in place BEFORE you launch it so Asda can't point the finger.

i must say i detest the use of 'loophole' it was a valid use via their original terms and conditions. Through tescos lack of forethought and perhaps ignorance perhaps arrogance they figured they would be cheaper.

But it has highlighted tescos strategy and sneaky way of upping things just prior to doing a 'buy one get one free' whereby the item would still cost thereabouts the same. The users simply found said items and bought them prior to the buy one get one three in multiples.

This can still be done altho limited to 20 quid. I personally benefited from it and thank tesco for putting a lovely offer on.. i will still be using it albeit at the 20 pounds limit.
