Ok I don't get it, what's the problem here, I have read many threads on here and there seems to be a minority who appear to have a real problem with the DFW board.
One comment was 'come here for advice, go to DFW for hugs', come on guys, get over yourselves.
Advice and support given on both boards is in the main, excellent, positive and relevent to posters circumstances.
We're all part of the MSE community, what's the problem?
Maybe one day life may take a direction you were'nt expecting and you may need to visit the DFW board and ask for support and advice, my guess is that you will be treated with courtesy not contempt. And so what if some people send hugs to others, at least someone bothers to reply to a thread with something positive.
For those of you who just want to 'have a go' at people why don't you de register from this site and go join the

It matters not if you try and fail, And fail, and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, And fail to try again.

They already have, but they can't stay away. I suspect you posted this after reading about the lady who is in a pickle with negative equity, a big mortgage and a business that isn't bringing in enough: that has been cross-posted to housepricecrash.co.uk so expect more ghouls to appear and have a pop at her.0 -
It's not that people have a go here (well, somea minority do), but it's not a huggy board. We don't do group hugs to make each other feel better.
Tough love is what we do here.
If somebody's bought the wrong house at the wrong price and their other half's left them with £1million mortgage debt while they're earning £10/year we don't say "awwww you're better off without him, go click something on quidco". We give practical advice "OMG, you're doomed, sell it quick! Get rid. Then chase his 4rse as he's half liable. Get a solicitor"
So we direct people to DFW for huggles because we're just rubbish at doing fluffy love.
The love here is more of an over-sized butt plug kind of love.0 -
PasturesNew - I laughed so much I have now spilt my coffee over some very important papers.0

I think of this board as offering practical solutions, and the DFW board offering emotional support - I don't think there's anything wrong with that and don't think that it is treating that board with contempt to say so.0

I only ever went once to the DFW board .... as I quickly run away after reading the board "rules" to not judge other people (fair enough) whereas when reading most of the stories all I felt like was to shout at them .... so as it's not very helpful I decided to go away
so well done to people there who are not like me :j0 -
zeb- so you hurried back here to do your shouting then ? !!!0

I understand (in theory I hasten to add) your analogy, however I do think that there are some quite sharp commentators on both boards that need to remember that we're all here to guide, support and advise each other.
It's like saying to someone who has asked you to comment on a dress that doesn't suit;
DFW board, 'mmmm that colour doesn't do you any favours, I think this may be a better choice'.
Housing board 'Your fat, ugly, you can't afford the dress anyway, give up, you shouldn't aspire to wear dresses anyway, get a grip, the dress will be repossessed.'
BTW how's the bread?DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

I like both this board and the DFW board, and read both regularly - not sure why, but I like them both. Does this mean I want to have my dress and eat it?0
