Shamelessly pinched the phrase from MSE user knuckledragger
who successfully negotiated a new deal from NTL by phoning up armed with prices from other providers.
Read about the MSE success stories in these threads, then Make That Call
NTL at it again! Make the call and save some cash...
Help: Need some NTL advice
Cutting the price of NTL bills
NTL line options ?
NTL: I've just saved £120 per yr with 1 phonecall
One on the Internet Board
Cut your NTL Broadband pricing
and one regarding TV from NTL
NTL offering 12 months Sky sports
I am not suggesting that NTL is the provider to go for merely suggesting that existing customers of NTL might like to re-think their packages and these thread give ideas on the best way to go about it
NTL disconnections (customer retention) on 0800 052 0243.

Thanks for your post Edinburghlass - just saved £75 on my BB with ntl0 -
Thanks so much for your NTL info, Edinburghlass - for ages I thought I'd been given a rough deal by NTL - no perks for 'old' customers etc.
It's great to know there are some savings there, if you put the effort in (and learn how to search the forums!)
I recently discovered that I could get free (well, 5p connection per hour) evening and weekend calls from NTL for no extra charge - it would be nice if they informed their customers of this, but then again it aint to their advantage is it...
Thanks again, and keep up the good work..

In fact, you'd do the same at any time of the day or night to any 01/02 number using 1899.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Ok April2, but you still need a telephone line at around £10 a month rental, so the savings are marginal depending on your usage needs.
You can still use 1899 with NTL via an 0800 No.
Mary, hi, you will also get the intenational discount package free with the "5p" call package which means calls to the US are only 2p per min 24/7.

Awesome!
I am with NTL for BB, Telephone (2 Lines with Voicemail & 3 Way Calling) and a basic Digital TV package. I rang disconnections asking them how I go about closing my account. They asked if I intended to switch to a cheaper supplier and if I would be interested in their current offers.
They then went on to reduce my fixed charges from £53.20 to £35.35, saving £17.89 and add a free upgrade to Familly package. They also offered to move the TV socket for free which they previosly quoted at a cost of £50. They also compensated me £30 for a £20 overcharge.
Also will be getting an orchid phone dialler to save even more money, NTL are very accomodating as it is more profitable to sell to an existing customer than it is to get a new one!
Thanks for all the posts everyone.0 -
Wow.! after dilydallying about 'making that call to NTL' I finally did it!
I am paying £13.49 for dial up internet per month and
Entertainment services £10. Tv and telephone £14 and extra line £7.50
Can't have BB as have old windows 95 computer and it won't take it (I am told).
Must get a new computer sometime.
After speaking to 3 different depts and finally to redemptions with a little bit of persuasion a very nice lady said she would cancel the £13.49 charge per month.
Said it would take 30 days to show on bill.
I am so pleased.! saves nearly £162. a year by my reckoning.
I am with 1899 so further savings.
Thanks for this great thread and all you MSEs.0 -
Has anyone managed to get tv/phone reduced? Phoned recently and got 1M BB reduced to £9.99 - total bill £40 approx. for 123 phone and family pack. Always happy to chat to retentions and negotiate but would like to know what they have been offering (also I do not throw the "I'm leaving" line as I have found that they offer the deal as soon as you call and I do not want to leave therefore don't wish to lie!).
Many thanks

Hi all,
currently im on the following packages:
phone line 10.50
internet 17.99
tv 04.50
is there any way that I could reduce these bills.
Thanks.0 -
Have a read of the threads linked to here and then follow the advice of other users and phone NTL up to say you will be moving to XYZ because XYZ can offer you a package at a certain price. Make sure you have figures to hand that show you can pay less than you are currently paying NTL.0

I wonder why that is. I dont see why W95 wouldnt work with Broadband, expect the USB modem, which is not supported in W95, so get a modem with Ethernet connection.
You might want to double check this, dont want you to suffer with dial up unless you have to. :rotfl:0
