I called NTL at the beginning of March to say I was considering moving as was cheaper elsewhere. They offered me free line rental for a year and 2mb BB for 6 months at £19.99 - then going back up to £24.99

Called 13th of April to verify this and ask for it in writing and got told, yes the notes were on the account, but they couldn't send me an email then and there as system was down and to call again - which I didn't get round to.

Surprise, surprise - got my bill this morning and I had been charged £10.50 for line rental, phoned customer services who maintained that they had never agreed to that, although there were some notes on my file saying they had!

Spoke to 3 people in customer retentions and the last one finally admitted that indeed they had agreed to free line rental.

So now I have free line rental for a year, also said I didn't need 2mb BB and prefer to pay £17.99 for 1mb, which she changed. She then went on to say as a good will gesture and to apologise for all the problems they would reduce my BB to £10.99 for 6mths.

Got the line rental agreement of her in writing via email:

"This is written confirmation that i have applied a £135.00 credit to the account thanks for calling NTL today "

Not sure I'll definitely get the BB reduction but we'll see on my next bill - at least I have the name of who I spoke to!

All in all quite happy now!!

ACT NOW - NTL are raising their prices. This is an opportunity to cancel any 12 month contract: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=187011
