Both myself and my husband were offered a discounted line rental from £35 to £5 per month with immediate effect. This does not entail entering a new contract, it simply runs to the end of the original 12 month contract of which we are in month 4.

Im not sure if the offer is still available. CNM went into administration on the Wednesday and I rang them on the following saturday.

Did you have to fight for this or were they very aware of the situation?

I was offered half price line rental (£17.50) for the remainder of my contract (6months).
However, i received a letter today from Voda thanking me for renewing my contract with an end date of Nov 2008 for £35p/m.
I called 191 and was told that although it says £35 on the letter, on their system it says with half price line rental of £17.50 but that it is for 12 months.
I explained about the team that called me with the offer and was told he'd put a note through for them to contact me to explain.
Did this happen to anyone else?

When I first contacted Vodafone I was told I'd had to pay a disconnection fee to leave the contract (I had 4 months left on a 12 month contract) and there was no offer of a reduced monthly tariff. I pressed a bit and eventually was offered the half price rental until the end of the contract which I accepted as I thought it unlikely to get anything better. The guy I spoke to said they had around 22000 cashback customers. Having seen the £5 offer for Big Dreams and husband I'm now wondering whether I should have argued a bit harder!

Has anyone else been tied to a new 12month contract by Vodafone without agreeing to it and if so what have they done about it?
Im waiting for a callback from the specialist team to see whats going on.

I am awaiting my phone call! Will post result when known. Four months into deal with not a penny back and feeling very annoyed. They tried various delaying tactics before going belly up such as saying that I'd sent the wrong bill (it wasn't) then they agreed it was the correct bill, then emailing to say that the amount had been cleared for payment (several times) then - nothing - until I read elsewhere that the company had folded. I've had cashback deals for a number of years with no previous problems. Too good to be true? Maybe I should have been more careful!!!

Hey all,

I'm a casualty from the Dial-a-mobile/ Mobilephonesontheweb debacle, so I spoke to Vodafone a week or so before the news about CNM came out.

After being passed around for a week or so, I was offered the £5 deal with no negotiation by a CS person (not he specialist team). I got this confirmed in writing, until the end of my contract.

My bill arrived yesterday, and surprise .. it's for my standard tariff of £35. straight back on the phone, and apparently there's been a "misunderstanding" and details of my new deal haven't been passed to the billing dept.

The CS person could see that the deal has been noted on my record and assured me that an amended bill would be sent. I'll keep this thread updated!

It seems to me that if you are unlucky with one CS person, keep trying until you get someone sympathetic, that knows what is going on.

Best of luck.

dj

Had a call offering me a half price deal (£17.50 a month on a new 12 month contract) on one of my 2 phones which was "not negotiable". I'm wondering what happened to the £5 a month deal quoted by others?

yes i have just opened my letter from Vodaphone. they have listed me as a full price contract £35 and done this for another 12 months, so i am now worse off than before.
I did not agree to extend my contract either so even at half price i would be no better offer because all they have done is extend my contact for an extra 6 months.
Prefer to go back to my old contract now so i can dump them as as soon as possible. Suppose to be helping us!! Scr*wing us more likely.

Surely they cant just tie us to a new contract without our knowledge or signing anything.

Surely the phone operators wouldn't pay these dealers up front would they? It makes you wonder how much they got!!! - and how much is still in the kitty?

Yeah resellers usually get commision from the networks after a about 2/3 months - could have been anything from 200-600 quid depending on the tariff and contract length! (Based on my time working at CPW)

I finally remembered to call Voda (again - got the standard response on the day of the liquidation announcement) about PBD. Only rang at about 7pm but got a call at 12 today offering half price on my £35 tariff. Gave me the option of til the end of my contract or extending for a full 12 months. Was happy with til the end of June Seems like this is their standard offer now.

Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...

Hi guys, really appreciate your comments...here's what's happened to me so far.

Called just before MBD went bust, I threatening everything (to Voda) due to non payment of my cash back but they kept saying "nothing to do with me"

Just called back and got the following;

Sorry nothing to do with us - you leave, it'll cost you a disconnection fee (running into hundreds!)

Pressed them and quoted "MSE" and they claimed no "specialist team"

Told them they were offering others a reduction to £17.50, to which she said she had no memo on that. Did discuss further and she could "reduce" my tariff but after listening...it was a move to another tariff, so BE AWARE, TO THIS TACTIC!

Eventually, after here referring to someone, I'm getting the call back.

I'm only going to settle for the 1/2 price for the remainder of my contract, since reception with them is rubbish!

Be firm but polite and drop in a few references to this site and the experiences of others and I'm sue we'll get there....in the end!!!

I'll keep you posted

Smile Ask to speak to manager

I was offered a better deal of £5 a month until the end of contract. This can be offered only by a manager so if you receive a phone call state you are still unhappy and request a phone back from a supervisor. They should give you the offer of £5 a month. This cannot apparently be offered from the normal callback team.

Folks.

Was flatly refused any sort of reduction in line rental, the customer service chap basically so tough, nothing to do with them even though I mentioned that they gave coolnewmobile an incentive to get custom for them, was still said basically tough.
I have dropped my line rental to the bottom most tariff and cant wait to get away from these jokers.
What should I do now, leave it and ride it out, or phone back to try and get the £5 line rental. Any advice would be most gratefully recieved. Basically how can I play this to get the £5.00 deal.

Regards
Gazza.

Spoke to CS 2-3 weeks ago who promised me a call back from the specilaist team within 3-4 days. Could not give me a contact number for specialist team.....No call back received, called CS today to be told that the delay has been caused by 12 yes 12 of their agents going out of business but that I would definately get a call. CS chap then asked if my cashback was for half price line rental when I said it was for the whole £35 per month he said he would credit my account with the £35 for this month and that I should have had a call from the specilaist team to sort something before the next bill / payment was due.

Hi Guys. I'd like to ask an advice. I am still awaiting for the specialist team to get back to me, I rang Voda 9 days ago and still no call from them. I never got a single cash back from the £420 PBD owes me.
This is my 9th month with the contract, basically, I can reduce my tariff even w/o talking to the specialist team, but the cheapest they can give me is £20 a month. The lady that spoke to me said that the specialist team will help me get my cash back. Is it true? Or shall I reduce my tariff now. I only have 3 months left anyway.
Please any advice would be great.
