Sky plus £49 for existing customers

Options
I am currently in a 12 month contract expiring in April 2008. I called up today (thought that my contract ended in December for some reason), threatened to leave as I don't get time to watch much tv, and was offered (after a bit of haggling) the Sky plus box for £49 including installation. (On their website the existing customer "offer" is £149 plus £30 installation). I didn't call up their main number - I called 0808 1014438, cancellations, turnaround team. Been waiting a while for a good offer for existing customers so snapped it up quickly.

  • Tell them politely that you want to cancel and they will offer you what polo says. Politely say no again and you might be offered it for free.
Mine was fitted for free as described in the main thread for digital TV cost cutting here.
    To infinity and beyond!
  • Their current offer is for existing customers. Sky plus box for £99 and free installation if take sky multiroom for £10 per month.

We had a sky rep calling at door last week offering as abover but for £49, we said yes, when he phoned it through they said there was no such offer, even though he had done it for eight other people in the road that day. he made two visits a total of 1hr and 20mins plus he tied my phone up for nearly an hour, we were told he could no longer offer me what he originally said. I found Richard Murdochs email address on the internet and sent him a long email. I got an email back the next day offering me what the rep told me I could have. Supposed to be installed at 8 oclock this morning, sky turn up and the fitter tells me he cannot do it as the dish is on my chimney stack, he would need to re-appoint for a heights team, next wednesday.
  • phoned up last week and managed to get sky+ box totally free including installation. being fitted tomorrow morning.

A lot of sky customers are trying this (ringing up to cancel)to get a better deal but from what i've read sky are calling their bluff.

did the same as everyone else on the previous thread and got it free too, took alot of haggling though and asked me about the other offers i was considering. luckily i had done my research with other companies (virgin) who were pretty similar anyway and they relented.

just rung the number in the OP and acted a bit dumb got offered straight away for £49 free install.. well chuffed
    thanks to OP
  • Don't have Sky myself- but a colleague of mine who is an existing customer had tried a reps number after being told she could get sky + for £49 but was refused.

Anyway last night she attempted again by getting in touch with the cancellation team and threatened to leave as she said she was loyal to Sky and felt it was unfair that exsiting customers could not get the same deal. Anyway she did get sky + for £49 and sky talk free for 6 months.

So shes now a happy bunny...but I still don't have it as I can't afford it!
