What's the deal?

Nectar is revamping its loyalty scheme and sending out new cards, as part of that it's offering a free treat to most Nectar cardholders.

You can choose from an adventure treat such as wakeboarding, clay pigeon shooting, days out or stadium tours or a pamper treat like a massage, facial, manicure or personal training session.

How to get your free treat

You need to be an active card holder, which it has defined as someone who has collected or spent Nectar points in the past few months; and the trigger is when you receive your new Nectar card, which should happen in the next 6 weeks.

Once you have this you can claim your free treat - so don't just put the card away and forget about it.

Why am I telling you if you'll get it anyway?

First of all Nectar is a massive scheme and a huge bulk of the nation have cards. Plus, how many of us actually open our e-mails from people like Nectar? Or bother to read the junk mail that comes with the new card? This is primarily a heads up to ensure that you don't miss out as its a seriously good freebie.

How to book

To claim your free treat , once you've got your new card, simply go to the Nectar treat site and choose what you fancy. Check to see if there is a venue near you, then click on 'claim your free treat voucher'. Fill in your details and you will be sent an email within the next 24 hrs - 7 days with the voucher (see the Ts & Cs)

If it has no vouchers available for your chosen activity they may send you something else similar. Contact the venue to book a time and take the voucher and your Nectar card with you. You need to claim your voucher by 29 February 2008 and it must be used by 31 August 2008.

Worried you might not get it.

In that case, the best thing to do is use the card (either to redeem or earn more points) as soon as possible; it doesn't have to be much. It's also worth checking your mailing address is up to date.

If you don't use your Nectar card much, dust it off now, use it on a small spend at Sainsbury's and you may still be able to get your treat.

I stumbled early on this by accident as I'd asked for a new nectar card. I input two choices on the site and got awarded the second choice and sent an email with the voucher - it's valid for Tewkesbury which is 15mins from me so although I was also a bit put off by the lack of locations upfront it has worked out. Now I just need to book :)

I was going to tell everyone - but bit put off by that bit about only invited people with the pack being eligible. Good to know how it works :T

If you choose a day out you also have to apply for it before it tells you what its for. So if its something you don't like/not interested in you are stuffed!

    Not a good layout.

The site looks pretty easy to use, pick either adventure or pamper, for adventure you just click the venues tab, then your region (east for me) and see what comes up in your area, There are at least 5 different adventure items around Norwich and that was only after a 5 minute scan. The Paintballing is one i've been too before and really enjoyed it, so i'll probably take that and arrange a game next year, thanks Nectar!
