Since the old eating out thread has vanished for a while, thought I might as well start a more up to date one. :A
So, my latest recommendation would have to be the Beijing restaurant in Lisburn. Doesn't have a website yet as far as I'm aware, but it's across the road from Tesco, upstairs.
Superb food every time, and excellent service.
There's also a pretty good Thai restaurant in Lisburn now (upstairs on Bachelors Walk) - can't remember the name of it though!
At long last Lisburn gets somewhere half-decent to eat.

I agree! The Beijing is very good. I also think Pizzarellys is good, and as its BYO, it's a cheap night out. Have you been to Spice yet? I've been once and although the food was good the service wasn't great. Although that could have been because they forgot about us after we ordered our drinks! and then once they realised this we got our main courses about 30 seconds after we had finished our starters! Anyway I would recommend the Khyber on the Saintfield if you like Indian food. I'd be interested in any other recommendations for eating out in the Lisburn area - particularly somewhere good for kids (not McDs, KFC or Pizza Hut thanks!!)0

We tried Robbie Cahoons last sunday and thought it was great.
Wasn't too busy when we went and 3 courses for £12.95, very clean and comfortable too.I would like to be able to admire a man’s opinions as I would his dog - without being expected to take it home with me."

Have had a takeaway from Spice and it was awful, took it back and got a refund. Not been back since and dont intend to. They also charged more (£5) than their website prices.
Tidy Doffer is always good for a meal with or without children.0 -
If anyone wants to try a very good Sunday lunch The Merchant Hotel in Belfast does an excellent menu in the Great Room at £16.50 for two course and £19.50 for three courses. OK, it's not the cheapest in the world but for the quality of the food, service and the lovely setting I think it's good value for money. They automatically add discretionary 10% service charge to the bill also just so you are aware.
Sample menuLife in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

Good idea for a thread, I like it!
I quite like trying different places, somewhere a bit out of the way, so will subscribe to this thread with interest!
A friend of mine recommended the Bronte Steak House just outside Banbridge, and although I haven't been yet, it's probably next on my list of places to try.0 -
