Hi Nellie - I have just received my list of charges from the Northern bank and was amazed that they total £1,500. I am going to send my 1st letter tomorrow recorded delivery. Should I send it to the branch? Do you now if anyone has had success with NB?
Many thanks!0 -
Just got my charges lists from Northern and I'm a bit confused about what I can claim back. They have abbreviations for their charges and mine are FE and DX. Some FE's have quarterly charges of £60ish, monthly ones at £9/9.50 and then several daily ones at £12 (these say referral fees whilst those others have no details). I also have an unpaid chq for £300 and an unpaid fee of £6. The other charges are dd set ups etc which I know can't be claimed.
Nellie you are just what we need here to help us beat the jargon! I would appreciate it if you could tell me what I can claim for.

Can I reclaim bank charges from a closed bank account? I think I closed it around 3 years ago?0

Yes you can Darren - just go through the usual procedure and start by asking for statements - follow Martin's instrustions here or use the templates and guidance on the Consumer Action Group site
pm me if you need anything else. Oh and make sure that you first letter is addressed to Mr Don Price, Chief Executive, Northern BAnk Ltd, Donegall Square West, Belfast - always get's the Bank's attention. Good luck.

Thanks for the reminder Edlass, but we are odd here in NI and need our own set of rules and help0 -
I knew of one charge that was imposed on my account around a year ago, I complained to Northern and got the money back, I don't think there were any other charges but I'm not sure is there anyway of finding out?0

Hi Nellie
I bank with the Alliance and Leicester and reckon they owe me £4,500. As I live in NI the small claims limit is £2,000. I have sent off my letters both times and been denied in both.
Can I use the courts in England or should I use the Civil system here, if so, how do I lodge a claim - I can't see anyway on the website.
Can you advise me ?
Thanks0 -
Unfortunately, Nellie, I still haven't received your PM so I'm not sure how to proceed. Sorry to be a pain!0
