I am a little aprehensive contacting my current bank (Intelligent Finance) regarding bank charges as I hold multiple products with them, namely a current account, a loan and a credit card.
The credit card shall be paid off by January and cancelled, and I have already opened another bank account.
The worry I have is that I.F. would demand (after payment of bank charges) that my current account, CC and the cost of the loan owing to be paid in full, which I cannot do. I don't mind them shutting the current account and CC afterwards, but I still need the loan, and am not in a position to apply for another loan else where being a student in my final year at the moment.
Any ideas/advice would be gratfully appreciated as I do have considerable amounts that I have paid for failed DD and over drawn fines (being a crap money person, and general studenty type) owing.
Ta muchly.

If the accounts are not linked (i.e. offset) then it is extremely unlikely they will touch any other accounts.
The loan would be covered under a seperate legal agreement, so if you have paid each installment on time, they would have no grounds to call it in.0 -
HELP!! I am in Northern Ireland and have filed a small claims court case against IF, and they have been to-ing and fro-ing for weeks asking me wierd questions. The latest is
"please give more details on respondents title, for example should the respondents title be:
'Window Boxes Limited who should be served at the Registered Office OR
John Smyth trading as Window Boxes OR
Window Boxes a firm sued as a firm.'"
Can anyone help? I have looked on IFs website and they only refer to themselves as Intelligent Finance or a subsidiary of Halifax Plc.

Possibly "Halifax PLC trading as Intelligent Finance" ?0 -
i've started the process with Intelligent Finance to reclaim £598. After sending the second letter they have offered a "full & final settlement" of £140.50.
Obviously I not going to accept this but my question is this - do i just ignore the offer and start a small claim court process or do I write to them rejecting the offer
help!!!:beer:0 -
Not many posts regarding IF but I've merged them so you can read other people's experiences.
Send them the next letter saying you won't accept this offer and are going to take them to court, I think you give them 7 days to answer that before starting the process.0 -
Hi all,
I sent a letter to Intelligent Finance on the 27th December 2006, with the cheque for £10, asking for a breakdown of bank charges over 6 years and to date, have not even received an acknowledgement of the letter.
However, Halifax, who they are a subsidiary of, have sent me 6 years worth of statements and acknowledged the letter asking for repayment of the charges.
Given I started the process at the same time for both banks, I think IF's behaviour is rude and is a reflection of the service I have had with them over the past 6 years. So once I have got my refund from them, I will be closing the account.
Has anyone actually finished the whole process with Intelligent Finance and if so, roughly how long did it take in the end.
Thanks0 -

Ah, Intelligent Finance how I hate them. I've been completely led around the houses by them, claiming that as my account is with a debt agency that they can't supply the statements. Liars. Especially as the account is with Blair, Oliver and Scott, who is*gasp* a member of the HBOS group.
In the Intelligent Finance thread on http://www.consumeractiongroup.com it seems that Intelligent Finance are waiting until you file your claim. If you do it through Moneyclaim, they acknowledge the claim but then do nothing else, leaving you able to request a judgement, therefore gaining you money. If you give it 2 weeks for first letter, 2 weeks for second and then the 28 days allowed on Moneyclaim, it amounts to two months. Someone has said that they don't pay up for a fortnight (oh the cheek) so roughly 2 and a half months for you to get your money. Hope that helps!"Think for yourselves and allow others the privilege to do so too." Voltaire.0 -
Hi everyone, thought I'd drop a line to let you all know what my situation is at the moment.
I sent my SAR off to Intelligent Finance 45 days ago. On the 40th day, I phoned IF and asked them what was happening with my statements. Here is what the incredibly rude customer service (ha) operator said.
"That account was passed on to an outside agency and we can't give you your statements."
Now, the £10 cheque was cashed. The account is with Blair, Oliver and Scott who are (gasp) part of the HBOS group. Intelligent Finance are the original suppliers of my credit card and as such have an obligation under law to furnish me with my statements. I very, very patiently explained this to Miss Rude, who promptly put the phone down on me. Oh, Intelligent Finance, how you love to treat your customers like rubbish.
Sent off my DPA non-compliance letter on Friday. Still no word back from Unintelligent Finance."Think for yourselves and allow others the privilege to do so too." Voltaire.0 -
Hi,
I don't know the legalities of your situation but were you talking their usual customer "un"service department?
You could try 0845 605 0625 (8am - 8pm) - that's IF's customer relations department, who are above their customer service people. You can complain to them and they'll try to sort your problem for you - I've found them very helpful in the past.
Hope you get it sorted.0
