Sunday 7th January - OS Daily Thread

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 7th January 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Hello all!

I read this thread daily, but often can't think of anything interesting to contribute.

So today I've started the thread in the hopes I'll feel more involved with you all, and less shy about posting *bites nails nervously*

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday. That roasts and gravy turn out rich and perfect. That yorkshires rise and roasties crisp. That veg are done to a turn and family don't bicker.

Wish you all a stressfree Sunday with plenty of time to enjoy families and play with kids. To achieve what we want to achieve.

For me this entails:

Packing parents and grandparents off to the airport
making a batch of tomato and basil pizza / pasta sauce (sterilised jars)
4 loads of washing (1 coloured, 2 mixed, 1 whites)
drying of above
not losing will to live

:grouphug: to all in need, and a happy Sunday to all

Much love
PG

Good morning all :) gosh is it morning already, must go to bed!

I am working from 10am but need to be up early to get the baby dressed and fed and take my stepson home before going. Not planning on doing a great deal when I get home apart from a nice relaxing bath.

Hope everyone has a fab Sunday x

    Helloooooo :D

Still up, but what's new. Cleaning out the drinks cabinet tonight....:o

Anyway, haven't posted for a few days. Boys aren't back at school till monday so have been doing stuff with them.

Managed to remember to put the BM on so will have a fresh loaf for tomorrow. WM has been doing overtime and there's a mountain of ironing to do, but at least the school uniforms are done - just the PE kits to do.

Am sat in my '2nd office' - have "acquired" another desk and put it in the spare bedroom so I have even more room to spread my paperwork out in  Will just have to keep everyone out of here. Have managed to do my accounts tonight (yawn) - at last!!

Sc will be going on with a lovely piece of organic lamb (RTC) in the morning and I'm sure I can find lots of cleaning to do :(

Right, need to "clean" up my glass. Hope you have a good day - catch ya all later.

ps sorry if I've missed any important news, so (((hugs))) , commiserations and congrats as appropriate.

Hello all who've gone before and all who follow... This is my first post on the daily thread but I love reading it. I work from home a lot and it's good to know (especially when it's still dark outside!) that there are other people out there going about their business and also trying to be OS :j
My Sunday involves a lie-in and a possible attempt to go for a run or possibly a swim (our flat comes with free use of leisure facilities so I feel it is a very MSE way of spending my time!). Dbf has kindly volunteered to nip to Sainsbury's for the few bits of food we need, saves me a job :j
Will possibly do some washing; definitely some ironing although only a small batch. The most OS task is to cook some roasted veg for Mon-Weds lunches (to go with some cous cous) while the chicken is cooking. Will also make up a batch of bolognese and chilli while I'm in the kitchen anyway - they can go in the freezer. That's my day... Off to bed now after a day of money-saving: walked (hence saved bus fare) both to and from a nearby village this afternoon/evening and had a free drink each in O'Neills thanks to the voucher that was highlighted in the weekly email. We then had a lovely meal for dbf's forthcoming birthday and my dad said he would pay for the wine :rotfl:
All round sense of satisfaction - hope tomorrow is as good

New flat, new budget, new commitment to MSE!

Welcome Paulie'sGirl and redspot24! You'll soon feel like real old hands!

I must get to bed soon, I need to catch up on so much tomorrow ( correct that, today!!!) Having been unwell, I've really fallen off the wagon, but fully intend to climb back on board today.

Lots of plans for a big cook to restock the freezer. To which end i have mince, stewing steak, chicken breasts and some pork thawing.
That will force me to do it! I'd feel so bad to have to throw all that meat away.

Will have to run up to Sainsbury's after Church, since I'm a bit low on certain vegetables, particularly mushrooms. I go through tons of them when I do a big cook, and a goodly proportion end up in me as they're cooked. I just love fried mushrooms!

I also need to pop over to moggins flylady thread, but that might have to wait until Monday, a girl can only do so much:rotfl:

Have a good Sunday everyone! And ((((((hugs))))) to anyone that needs one.

    CMxx

Good night to those on their way to bed and Good morning to those getting up. :hello:

    I'm a bit in-between…

I've been to bed, but wakened to hear my sixteen year old daughter coughing badly. Tiptoed in with all the usual things to help a bad cough......I turned on her bedside light and scared the living daylights out of her, and in turn her reaction scared the living daylights out of me! Thanks to all the pills and potions she has stopped coughing and is sleeping like a baby, but I'm wide awake.:(

The upside is; there's a wash in the machine, the dishes are all washed, dried and put away, the breadmaker's been put on the timer and the living room's tidy.

I'm not sure what we're up to tomorrow……..most likely just preparing for Monday when we're all back to school and work. I only have five nights to work this week, but after the break I really don’t want to go back. I know it'll be fine when I get back into it, but I have so enjoyed having two whole weeks off and spending evenings and weekends at home with the family.

Paulie's Girl and redspot, welcome to the daily thread. As Nelski says don't worry even if you feel you have nothing much to say………..it’s great to see new faces and we're all [strike]nosey[/strike] interested no matter how much or little you have to say.

I'm still feeling wide awake but I'm going to go and see if I can get another couple of hours sleep before morning.

Have a good day everyone. :)

Good morning everyone :hello: A big welcome to Paulie's Girl and redspot24 :D

Like Pink-winged it's also my last day at home before going back to w**K tomorrow. I too have had two lovely weeks off and just do not want to go back. It has been so lovely and stress free being at home.

Today we are having turkey. We had duck at Christmas and the turkey we ordered was portioned up and popped into the freezer. I've pulled out a couple of pieces and they are going into the slow cooker today.

Today will be another pottering day. I have some ironing to do, some paperwork and OH will probably want to do some more racking of wine.

Have a lovely OS day everyone
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

Morning. I am up already as always, never can sleep in.. once up I have to get up..... I don't have much planned today. Church at 10.30, work at 2pm.
I think the weather forcast today is going to be terrible, so just as well I am at work I think.

    Sunday Day

  • Morning everyone!

I can't believe I'm up at this time on a Sunday - a mixture of baby pressing on my bladder, hunger and nerves about my scan tomorrow.

I am not looking forward to going back to work either, although I am very grateful for being off for 2 whole weeks - I know I am really lucky. I go back on Tuesday and the only light at the end of the tunnel is (all being well tomorrow at the scan), we can finally start telling family and friends and work colleagues about the baby - so that should be a distraction from work for a while!

Not much O/S going on here today (don't really know why I'm posting today!) as I have earned some extra money this week (£90), so I'm heading into town to buy some maternity clothes as my trousers are getting a bit tight - I'm not sure whether that's just all the Celebrations and Heroes over Christmas though!

I'll probably put a wash or two on and do some general tidying - but shopping and relaxation is probably more like it.

Have a lovely, lovely Sunday everyone.
