Icesave (waste Of Time)

Options
Hello All,

I thought you guys might be interested that ICESAVE seems to be a total waste of time. Their customer service is extremely poor and it seems impossible to remove funds from your account if you didn't fill in their optional direct debt mandate during the account creation process!

Not a happy customer at all!

I think I am coming to the same conclusion. I am having no luck at all in logging in to their website and calling them is a waste of time, literally. Fortunately I only have £250 with them.

I had wanted an alternative to the Coventry First account and may now have to consider the Brum Midshires account instead.

    A missed opportunity, Icesave.

Exactly. I'm in the same boat. I have apparently got to write to them to close the account! It's ridiculous.

of course it is - direct debit is the only way to pay in and out of the account. it wasnt optional at all. I suggest you read the terms and conditions properly in future before applying to for a product.

Come on, who actually reads the entire terms and conditions applying for a product?

If it's not optional then why does the online application not make the direct debt mandate mandatory?

    Hi there,

You have encountered these problems due to the high demand of new applicants for this top paying savings account. AFAIK they only have a small office running their CS.

I am one of the few who opened the account immediately having been introduced in the market last October and I can't fault their services. I have already tried pulling funds in and out and has never had any problems.

Conclusion: A very happy and satisfied customer.:D
  • When I signed up last week DD was the only option. Not many newish banks particulary online ones have a fault free start in life, I will wait awhile to see how they fathom out before slagging them off. Now if you want to slag off anyone there is this little dutch bank I know of called ing that thinks its customers should stick with them regardless of how low their interest rate is.

Any one with any sense. Most people mess up their financial affairs as a result of not taking any notice of what they are agreeing to. If you dont take any notice of what your signing up to how can you whinge when you get it wrong.

I have had no problems with them. Money goes in and out fine for me.

I think you just have to adjust your frame of mind. It took me some time to get the hang of the logging-in process, since they seem to require you to give slightly more complicated information than most other on-line banks. It's also produced in a rather off-putting way, so you have to translate your preferred date in a manner I'm not used to. However, once you've got the hang of this and you set your mind to the fact that you have to 'pull' money in, rather than 'push' it from another account, it seems to be working well.

I did have to call them once and had to hold on for 3 or 4 minutes but, once through, the operator dealt with my queries very efficiently. I think, as with all these operations, they take a bit of time to bed down and there's no doubt that if you're left hanging onto a 'phone for ages, it leaves a bad impression so I always try to call when I think it's going to be least busy. (i.e. not lunchtime, nor 10am)

I don't see why customers have to fit in with them! But I see your point.
