Scammed of £900?

On July 18th I bought 10 £100 Amazon voucher codes, for £90 each. I payed instantly through PayPal. I added all of the codes to my Amazon account and everything seemed fine, then I went away on holiday for 2 weeks...
Yesterday, I was in the process of placing an order on Amazon, when I saw my gift certificate balance as £0.00, when I remebered adding all £1000 worth of codes.. I called Amazon up, and was told the payment for the codes had been rejected, and they removed them from my account, without even letting me know what had happened.
I've messaged the eBay seller to get no reply, and I'm really stuck on what I should do now! I'm not sure if PayPal can do anything, because the codes were sent via email..
Any advice would really be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ash

Try filing a Paypal dispute under goods not as described.Ashok wrote:On July 18th I bought 10 £100 Amazon voucher codes, for £90 each.
I have to ask - why did you buy so many from one seller for 90 per cent of the so called 'value'?Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

90% of the value is good, if I want to buy something from Amazon worth £1000, I'm saving £100 straight away! And I was planning to buy a HDTV, now I've lost all the money I saved up for it..0 -
Think i'd rather have put the 900 in a higher interest account than risk losing it all for something bought off ebay, guess we all live and learn.0

Like i said file for goods as not described. Also call Amazon again and ask them to send you an email detailing why the vouchers were rejected. You may need this is aprt of your cliam.

you could actually file for goods not received as the person won't have a tracking number
chances are though, at most you are only covered for £105 by paypal
go straight to your credit card company and file a chargeback through themmoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

I paid through funds in the PayPal account, I'm not sure whether to file for not as described, or not received.. I wish I could track the guy down, he owns https://www.grahamsdvds.com , but a whois didn't give me much apart from his name which is apparantly Graham Crossley, but his email address is: rsmith2477@ntlworld.com if that helps..
Do you think anyone could help me track him down?
I called up PayPal, but they said they can't do anything as it was sent via email..0 -
I cannot believe you spent £900 on vouchers through eBay, for a potential saving of just £100.0

I am desperately trying to think of a solution here, but I can't see any thing at all obvious to suggest.
In the back of my mind I seem to remember reading something about intangible goods not being covered by paypal protection, but I find the paypal help searches about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
However, I have found something that suggest the opposite, ie that the selelr has no protection for intangible goods, so maybe I am getting confused
Amount: Seller Protection Policy covers up to £3,250.00 GBP per year.
Exclusions: Seller Protection Policy does not cover:
Intangible goods, such as services and sales or licenses of digital content. Only the sale of physical goods is covered.
http://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_spp-outside
However, it all still hinges on whether or not the seller has had a chance to clear his account, if he has then you revert to a standard claim which only gets back £105.
