Hello!

After months (and years) of lurking and avidly following a number of entertaining, heartwarming and awe inspiring threads, I’ve decided to take the plunge and start my own. In theory this is to motivate myself and the other lovely ladies from Dinah’s Ultimate Incentive thread in our bids to lose a bit of weight and become healthy, happy and wibble-free!

But it might also be a place to bring order to the chaos of debts, dramas, baking, high expectations, cats and to-do lists that I call my life. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Well, except the debts, but with a little help from my friends (namely the online sort and the fabulous Martin) I’m sure I can crack it and I’m optimistic about 2010.

In early 2008 I had a brilliant job in publishing, a kitten and bought a flat in sunny Hove with my lovely boyfriend/fiance, but unfortunately it wasn’t destined to be beer and skittles from then on. I was made redundant just before Christmas and spent nearly 6 months unemployed, which wasn’t a pretty sight. Now I don’t want to sound ungrateful, and I realise how lucky I am that this was the worst thing that happened to me, but it felt pretty bad at the time. So I applied for about a million jobs, mystery shopped, cried, applied for some more jobs, sold possessions on eBay, volunteered, took LOTS of advice from MSE and eventually landed a job (albeit a 9-month contract) in June 2009.

So, anyway, we just got back from an amazing holiday in South Africa (which I know sounds fairly ludicrous given the amount of debt we have, but I can justify it if anyone is interested!) which is why my challenge is starting in February.

I’ve got by debt-busting, weight-loss hat on and I’d like to lose 20lbs by 1st May. Anyone want to join me? You can start from scratch, join midway through or just drop in to Weight Watchers-style weigh in every week for some moral support and to share ideas.

Poddle’s Wibbly Bum Challenge officially starts on Monday 1st February, but I thought we could all do with a head start. Especially me and my 10lb excess baggage from holiday!

So, please post or PM me if you'd like to join the challenge; the support on this forum is the most incredible thing, so let's do it :j

I saw big ones, little ones, smelly ones, fierce ones and all sorts in between!

Safari was by far the best thing ever! I was SO emotional in the taxi back to the airport, I just hid behind my sunglasses in silence :(

My surprise favourite animals were a little hyena family we saw. CUTE! The lions and leopards were amazing, as were the rhinos, and we walked hand-in-trunk with elephants at a sanctuary too! And we went to a beach with penguins who just sat next to you and I saw a duck with ten one-week-old ducklings which I chased, but didn't manage to pick any up :o

    Welcome to the challenge Zig!

Poddle’s Wibbly Bum Challenge - absolutely loving the challenge title btw;)

I've joined a couple of other challenges - one to clear debt and one to save a small sum each day. I was going to make that all I joined for the time being as I didn't want to jump in too much too fast if you know what I mean.........but a bum challenge......that I am up for:rotfl:

Have subscribed to the thread and will eagerly watch the lbs fall off everyone:T

Sign me up Poddle. I'll be the one starting on the 2nd February, as the 1st is my birthday! I'm actually geared up to start today, so I'm going to do that, so for posterity my weight today is 141.2lbs, and I'm aiming to get to 122lbs in an ideal world, so 19.2lbs to go!

Penguins in Africa?? Haha, this just makes me think of those mischevious ones on Madagascar!

I'm in for the challenge too! Still languishing at 10 stone 4 or 144lbs - was sort of aiming for 9 stone 7 by my birthday on 12th Feb but think I'll settle for being 10 stone or under now :o If I can do that then maybe aim for end of March for my target weight. It's all in my sig already.

I'm going to do a run tonight!! Have worked out a circular route from my house on AA routeplanner that is half a mile long, might just try that to start with. Have entered the GNR ballot (as per my 30 by 30) but am also looking at a 6 mile Race for Life in May... I've never run before...

well.....I just weighed myself :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o and the needle thingy on the scale is definitely, definitely, definitely broken;)

Apparently I weigh 206lbs (which is 14st 10lbs:eek:). I would like to get down to a nice single digit at the front, ie 9st something - but for this challenge I will aim for 28lbs (2st) which I think is an achievable target in the timescale and will give me a good start towards that 9st something I am currently dreaming of:rotfl:
