Does this site still offer the £25 cashback mentioned in the article? I can't see any mention of it on the site.

Last time I used BeatThatQuote I was spammed to death by them. I was getting an email daily from them.

In fact, despite unsubscribing, I'm STILL getting emails from them at work and home.

  • Thought I'd give BTQ another go this year, to see if they'd improved their email marketing.

Nope. They're still spamming me with emails which have nothing to do with Motor Insurance (Breaking News, Mortgages, Life Insurance).

Look elsewhere, unless you want to be spammed.

I should have read this first - the spam has started!

Worse than that, they don't answer email and, using their 0800 number, when put through to cars on their auto system, it always seems to be on Answerphone :(

My worry is that I arranged my insurance through them and was told to expect an email explaining how to get the £25 cashback but a week later haven't had this email.

Has anyone on here successfully claimed their £25 cashback?

hi there,i also took my insurance out with beat that quote, you have to wait till youve been insured for 60 days, then log back onto beat that quote,on the top right hand corner theres a thing that says claim your cashback, click on it and it asks for your details.

ive just tried it as im just under 60 days, and it wont let me till dead on the 60 days! well was worth trying lol, will let you know how i go on in a weeks time when i will be able to claim it.

  • Hi there,
I just tried to get a quote for car insurance from BTQ but not possible. When I entered my details into Driving Details it came up stating that "the length of stay in the UK means you must have an UK license".

Unfortunately for me they've got their facts wrong. On directgov.co.uk is a test to see if one is allowed to drive on one's license and it says for people from the EEC:

you can drive in Great Britain (GB) on your full, valid driving licence from an EC/EEA country, until you are 70, or for three years after becoming a resident, whichever is the longer period

The time limit is different if you exchanged your licence though.

    Motoring
Can you drive in Great Britain (GB) if your driving licence was issued in another country?
    Conclusion

List of European Community/European Economic Area (EC/EEA) countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.
[*]you can drive in Great Britain (GB) on your full, valid driving licence from an EC/EEA country, until you are 70, or for three years after becoming a resident, whichever is the longer period
[*]if your driving licence has been previously exchanged from a non-EC/EEA country you can drive for up to 12 months from the time you first became resident. You will need to stop driving at the end of the 12 months. You may be able to exchange your licence for a British one.

@ Penny Pincher - you are quite right, we had some over-rigorous validation on our site and are making amends to this at the moment.

Regarding the cashback, yes, the process is that you have to wait 60 days from policy commencement (not quote date) to allow us time to have received confirmation of sales from the various insurers and brokers on our panel. We do send an email immediately you get a quote and again to remind you when the 60 day period has ended, but these do from time to time go into spam folders I'm afraid

just to make people aware that if you do claim £25 cashback with beat that quote that the whole process can take up too 4 months, ive just applied for mine now,and after waiting for 60 days to be able to claim it,ive had it confirmed that it can take up to 60 days then for the £25 to come through, and for what its worth i diddnt get a reminder email either, luckily i had saved my orignal email and it had a part on that that gives you the option to claim your £25,as when i went back onto the site i could not find the that claim your £25 cashback for love nor money! yet when i was on it last week i found it easily enough.

  • From what I can tell, quotes via BTQ are consistently higher than those direct from an insurer, it looks like they hike up the prices to cover the cashback as well as the commission!

I took out a car insurance policy through them on 1st March. To be fair they did send me an e-mail to tell me the 60 days were up so I claimed on 1st May and got my £25 cashback on 28th May. So it took a long time but I did get the cashback in the end.
