Christmas coming - some people.....

My daughter just called me, she was coming back from Asda and was stopped by a guy who wanted to GIVE her a 2 yo rottie (!!) there and then as "he can not cope with the dog".
My daughter says the dog looks very scared of anything and everything around (must have been kept somewhere locked or outside and only taken out to be "given away perhaps?).
Told her to go back to the guy and get his phone number, possibly take a photo of the dog too and will ask people I know.
I can not take te poor thing in, got a cat at home and my Zara is not too keen on "strange" dogs visiting.
What to hell is wrong with some people? Take the dog outside a supermarked to "give away"?
What would you do in this situation?
Waiting for my daughter to come back home to see what else she says....
Grrrrr

may be worth contacting these people if you can:
Rottweiler Welfare Association

Tried number from your ost, no reply.
Tried numbers from the link above, same thing - no reply.
Grrrrrrr0 -
Could well be the same one - it is likely that the people manning the lines may all be volunteers, not paid staff and will be at their day jobs at the moment - it may even be a one man (or woman) enterprise....
You could try these guys too - http://www.rottweilerrescuetrust.co.uk/
It may be worth ringing the guy and asking him to please hold onto the dog, so it does not end up with another passer by whilst you are busy tryng to contact people
Otherwise, I see you are in london, it may be worth trying battersea, or the mayhew: http://www.mayhewanimalhome.org/permalinks/contactus.php
He could take it to the pound, but as a hand in they have no requirement to try and rehome, and may PTS immediately.. you could ring them and ask though, as it is at the discretion of the inividual pound, and may depend on the temprement of the dog, how full they are etc...
Alternative, try the RSPCA, although they have no legal requirement to take in strays and hand-ins...
I will also PM you0 -
Battersea will put him to sleep - no way.
Tried Mayhew already - full.
Spoke to the guy, he will hold on till..... tonight grrrrr0 -
have battersea said that?
here is a list of rescues in the south east:

I am in London.
I know Battersea will put the dog down as I knw a few people who used to volunteer there.
Called RSPCA, no help.
The Rottie Rescue guy was very nice but he can not take another dog on.
Looks like there is nothing i personally can do and feel like banging my head against a brick wall - the owner said he got 48 hours to get rid of the dog as he is gettin evicted.
Dog is not vaccinated, not neutered, he says it is an "outdoor" dog, was in a car accident when he was 6 months old (just over 2 years old now), that guy had him for a year now and "does nto know" if the dog is ok with kids or cats. How can you not know THAT if you had a dog for over a year ??????0
