Carphone Warehouse says its customers will be the first in the UK to receive their broadband internet connection for free, although the entire package - including calls and line rental - will cost £20.99 a month.
There will also be a one-off connection fee of £29.99.

It's all well and good but I bet they'll charge per gigebyte of usage to make up, meaning its not so free!0
-
It'll probably be 512k with a limit and then cheap upgrade options. It may be free to the light user.
Quite a good way to get people to switch I guess similar to cable broadband/telephone deals.

Guess I was wrong :P You get fastest speed available i.e. 2-8Mb with a 40GB d/l restriction. P2P blocked during the day?0 -
If it's as good as their service that you have to pay for, I wouldn't touch it with a 40ft pole.0

I'm so glad this has finally come out, I work for cpw and for months now there has been this new bb thing bubbling around and it was so hush hush it seemed no one knew about it, though we always thought it would have something to do with it being free.
Far as I know it will be just like it is now (two speeds, 1m or 2m) unlimited (within fair use obviously).
It launches in store on Tuesday. I should have taken the day off0 -
Well I dont think it will be limited on speed - I believe it to be up to 8mb (or whatever your exchange will hold). Also it has been on the BBC news all day stating CPW will be offering an excellent proposition for the consumer so I for one will be queing in my local CPW on Tuesday to sign up. I know a few people on TalkTalk who seem really happy I just needed something to motivate me to go and join but this definately has got my attention.0

This has definitely got my attention too......I'm paying 24.99 pm with BT Broadband (2mb) so that's a whopping £299.88 saving per year which over 5 years is £1499.40
I shall be watching these boards with keen interest :think:you know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!0 -
Just a note, you will have to be joined up to their landline service as well to get it for free.0
