Postman left my parcels next door!

Recently, the postman attempted to deliver a parcel when I was out, however it was too big for my letter box. The postman however decided ask next door to look after the package instead of taking back to the delivery centre. Is this allowed? I complained to the Post Office as the parcel could have contained anything, yet they gave it to a complete stranger!
Still waiting to hear back after a week after complaining. Btw, I did get the parcel from next door - but still angry.

Hereabouts parcels can only be collected between 7 am and 12 noon from the sorting office - fits in really well with working, that! It's a massive timesaver if parcels are taken in by neighbours...
Your neighbour could have refused you know, on the grounds that he/she doesn't know you.
I'm assuming the postman left a card telling you where the parcel was.
TBH I think you're getting hot under the collar over something that's not a major issue...your neighbour did you a favour. Now you can get to know him/her a bit - after all you do have something in common - you both chose to live in the same street.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

So what? I used to look after my neighbors parcels and vice versa and I didnt know them.0

Perhaps you should buy your sex toys in person instead of having them delivered then you wouldn't have to worry.0

Lawl xD What can they expect to come from moaning about that0

I agree with what the others have said. What is there to complain about?
It saved you the job of making a special journey to the delivery office during the silly hours they are open, didn't it?
A couple of weeks ago the postman was at my neighbours 2 doors away trying to deliver a parcel but it wouldn't go through the letterbox and they were at work, so I did the neighbourly thing and offered to take it, the postman had no problem with that.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -
I guess if you were in a massive feud with your neighbours then they could take it and then not pass it on. Otherwise it does save a lot of hassle. My neighbour was our postie so he always kept stuff and brough it round as soon as I got home.
My dad's postie signs for recorded delivery items and puts them thru - this is a great help to my dad because he works odd shifts and lived 12 miles away from the sorting office.
If they leave a note, I don't see what the problem is.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Got my order last night. Thanks Dan.
The only downside was DHL who practically forced the parcel onto my neighbours because we were out. It annoys me when they do that, how can then guarantee that person is going to give it back to me? Surely they should only deliver to the address it is marked for!

As it has already been said, your neighbour could have refused. If any parcels come for me , my neighbours always take them in for me as long as a card has been left for me to tell me where it is.
Can't understand why you are complaining0 -
I cant see what youre complaining about. We live in a cul de sac with about 12 houses in it. My husband is about the only person who is in all day and theres not a week goes by that the postman actually comes to the door now to drop off any parcels etc. We look on it as doing our neighbours a good turn.
My OH does insist that the postman puts a note though the recipients letter box to say where it is. The are always grateful for this as it saves them a trip.
It would only take one person like yourself to complain and he would stop doing it for everybody - and tell everyone why.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Whats the problem, the parcel was left with a neighbour which saved you a trip going ot the sorting office to pick up said parcel, the postie was doing you a favour, how is he postie to know you dont know the neighbour very well, draw a line under it and move on, maybe it helps we have an ex postie as a neighbour and he knows some of the staff0
