Tesco Misprices Discussion area part 5

Options
This is a continuation of the previous thread here

This thread is for any discussions on the Tesco policy regarding misprices. Please don't post misprice items in this thread but you can chat away to your heart's content here, leaving the other thread just for listing the 'finds'

Any misprices you find should be posted in this thread here

Thanks :)

For new readers:

For clarification SEL stands for Shelf Edge Label and R and R stands for Refund and Retain.

the Tesco policy on signs instore is :-

"And if things don't add up ~ In the unlikely event you are charged a higher price than on the shelf or the product we will refund your money and you can keep the product"

Compare the price per kilo on the pack with the shelf edge label price per kilo and where there is a difference the lowest price must be charged.

Thanks to !!!!!! Dastardly for providing the following information from the DTI website which summarises consumer rights in relation to misleading price indications:

Q1. I was charged a different price for an item at the till to the one that was shown on the shelf, what are my rights?

The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it an offence for a trader to give a consumer misleading price indications. In the first instance speak to the trader about the differing prices, if you are not satisfied with the response, contact your local authority trading standards department who enforce the Act and who could bring a prosecution against the trader.

The threads always get closed for being too long or off track once a Tesco employee gets the bit between their teeth. They do seem to like an argument!

Did you read the posts that were deleted? I would guess not from that comment.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
    I am not sure

    Oh boy - what'd I miss, eh?

So firework will happily scan away prices but I never bother (apart from the long walk to a scanner whilst busy shopping I don't fancy giving staff any excuse for wriggling out of a refund and happen to know that my biggest extra is so lousy with pricing I can almost guarantee at least one item per trip). In fact, I don't recall when I last had nowt from T but equally I'm not sure even where the scanner is located in the store or if it exists!

However what's really sad is that despite this lack of prior knowledge, the staff there sometimes still look at me as if I have written every misprice post on this forum myself and they played no part in it which isn't true at all.

Sorry if im being thick lol
But i know if the SEL on a pack of meat say 4.68kg and pack says 6.5kg i can get a r&r
after i have bought the meat
    Do i go to cs
Does it say on the receipt what price it is per kg
And do cs has to go and see SEL to check that it says its lower per kg
If that is the case do i go with them to make sure they dont remove the SEL
Sorry about these questions but next time i see something like this i dont want to look an idiot if they just give me the difference
Do i say about their mis-price policy if they are only willing to give me the difference in price
  • Hello, confused newbie money saver here.

Can I take it the only way to check these misprices is to make a note of all the sels and then go off and scan them at the aisle price checkers?

I think so as i have only just found out about R&R
But on joints of meat you can tell by the packets if the SEL says 6.78kg and the pack of meat say 7.56kg then you can get a R&R
  • Aah yes, I see, thanks for that.

Blimey I havent got the time for doing other things though, must take ages, thank goodness for sites like this there where there are people who do it and are willing to share.

Not only that our Tesco aisle scanner never works for the kids :-(
  • PS - What does R+R mean (couldnt find that above) refund and retain?
