a tale of my neighbour who tried but failed

The house next door to me came on the market 18 months ago after my long time neighbor died. well it was the height of the market and a very young couple of 19 and 21 snapped it up at asking price.
The couple who moved in were very nice but a bit short of life experience and we got on well. The next thing is he tells me he has just got a loan because the house needed doing up (which it did)
so over the next six months they spend a fortune doing the place up to a high standard and putting so much effort in to the place i admired him.
The problem is how are they paying for all this.well it turned out that she was working full time nights at the local asda and he was a sales manager at mfi..
They actually used to pass each other going in and out of the house to work while swapping the car and i wondered what sort of life is that...well about 9 months ago he got laid off from mfi and could not get any work or good benifits because she worked full time..
they struggled for a few months but just could not make ends meet and finally gave up and she moved back with her parents with her two small children and he is knowhere to be seen.
Well today the house has been repposessed and the 14 day notice has gone up in the window....
how many others out there like this are there and in these uncertain times is buying worth the risk. i forgot to add that these two had moved from a rented council house.
Just goes to show how important timing is whether you succeed or fail...

It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

How utterly sad. They sound very hardworking- and industrious for him to have a managerial role so young, and two children...I can't imagine having two children at aged 19.0

I don't understand why she would choose to work nights at ASDA. Surely there are better day jobs out there.
19 and 21 is way too young to make such monumental life decisions.0 -
Sad news. Don't think I would be able to sacrifice seeing my partner just to pay for the house. They should have seen it coming.I hate migraines.0

presumably because they wanted to be there for the children. I know a few women who opt to leave children with their partners in the evening rather than use other childcare through the day. When I used to work evenings myslef it was mainly students or mothers making up substantial parts of the workforce
Houses are huge decisions. Children are the biggest though.0 -

You strike me as the kind of neighbour that would do that, whilst sniggering behind your curtains as the removal men empty the place.
