"If things don't add up - In the unlikely event you are charged more than the price on the shelf or product we will refund you double the difference"

This thread is only for discussing any misprices you find at Tescos.

For new readers:

For clarification SEL stands for Shelf Edge Label, R & R stands for Refund & Retain, DTD stands for Double the Difference

The Tesco policy changed on 26th February 2007 to Double the Difference back if you have been overcharged.

My local Tesco has girls' purple coats reduced to a fiver, but I was charged £6 at the till so got £2 back - very good bargain! Does that count as a misprice?
  • I bought 2 finest topside joints with an in date SEL showing 25% off there were 3 packs on the shelf with now offer on them so i took 2 to self scan. They went through at full price. Told CS and I went with her back to the meat dept. She told me to wait there while she got the manager. She was gone a while then came back and we waited for ages before he turned up ( i assume he was looking at the cctv to see if i had fiddled with anything. When he finally arrived he almost immediatly said right give me R&R to the CS which seems strange (a. she didn't question it! b. he didn't ask her which meat it was and he bent down to the shelf in question and ripped off the SELs! c. she then told me you would have got DtD before but now you a total refund!)

Anybody else come accross this. Or is it an out of touch old Manager throwing his authority around.

It got heated from time to time  On the whole I miss it.

To an extent it became irrelevant with the removal of r & r. Double the difference is far less emotional for all involved - less gain for the customer (generally), less loss for the employee (however miss placed that feeling may be).
