Anyone close their Icesave - money in Limbo

Options
I realize from reading posts that there are alot of worried people on here because their money is in a limbo situation at the moment. From what people are saying those BACS payments will bounce back to their Icesave accounts.

My questions relates to people who closed their account (as I did on Sunday) and their money is now in limbo. I can't access my account so I can't print off any statement or proof that the transfer was done. I am concerned that when the authorities send out the claim form people in my situation will be missed as we will be not classed as current Icesave customers. Even if you do get the form what evidence can I produce that those f*ckers had my money.

Obviously I welcome Darling's statement this morning but I'm worried that I might slip through the net somehow. Are there many other people in this situation, if so what are you proposing to do about it?

Thanks

Paul

I suggest you contact one of the money experts in the National Press asap and ask them the same question. As this is likely to get you further than contacting the regulator yourself.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • Presumably though you will have your bank statement where the money was transferred out to Icesave? And additionally, you should somewhere have a notification at least that the account was opened? I'm sure if you know the account details - and can say when the money was deposited, and then withdrawn, you should be OK. Because unless Icesave can prove they DID pay you (on account closure), then you're in line for the payout from the FSCS. At the end of the day, the Chancellor has now guaranteed we will get our money back - it's just a case of when and how now at this stage. My advice, stay relaxed - they will reimburse your capital one way or other. It may now be more complex since you can't log in, but there will be some way of sorting it out I'm sure.

Lots of people are in the same situation. I infact used CHAPS same day transfer from cash ISA the night(6th) before it went bust (07th). Since I have a small fixed bond and can login - the ISA account says processed and a balance of £0 with £30 deducted as CHAPS payment. No money has arrived in my HSBC though.

I'm thinking of lodging a complaint to FSA if icesave do not resolve the issue.
  • I'm in that exact situaton also. Just got off the phone to Icesave and they said that my CHAPS payment (7.00am(ish) on the 7th won't go through and that the funds are in a suspend(?) account and should show up re-allocated to my Icesave account by Friday.

Me too. BAcs and closed account on Sunday PM after saving and printing statement which stopped at last months interest payment. You're also supposed to be sent any interest owed up to the closure date.
Just need the account reactivated so we can log in - as said, presumably if the BACs bounces back the money will still be there and the account revived.
  • I and Ms.TisforTesco are in the same boat, although I also have an ISA with Icesave, so I can still log in, but my savings account has gone gone gone....

    Edit:
We both printed coppies of our savings account statements though, so fingers crossed.....
