    Hi there,

I wonder if anyone could help me, I recently booked the 2 for 1 promotion for a holiday inn Glasgow for £60 all in. However today when I checked my online banking I noticed they've taken the full £120, has anyone else experienced this problem or is it just my bad luck!?

I've phoned hotel but because I finished so late from work theres no one around to help me... I really hope I can get this sorted!
    Hi,

Unfortunately, this is apparently quite a common error, primarily caused by poorly trained receptionists as all deposits are taken manually by each hotel. Call or email the hotel, if there's no-one who can deal with deposits insist they call you back at a time convenient to you. They should refund the money back onto your card immediately, and pay any charges you may have incurred, e.g. overdraft interest etc.

Sorry for the problem and good luck getting it sorted.

Hi, I'm not being funny but what Holiday Inn is it you have booked, it's just that when I was looking I couldn't find any as cheap as £60 for 2 nights, with the 2 for 1 promotion the price that is shown is per night not per 2 nights, could that have been what has happened. Maybe I'm wrong but the hotels in Glasgow all seem to be more than £30 per night, unless it's maybe 1 of the hotels outside Glasgow as they seem cheaper.

Well, I spent two nights in Glasgow at the Express Holiday Inn using the 2 for 1 offer. It was great. The hotel was very clean and the night receptionist very friendly. Obukit, thanks again for this offer.

    Thanks so much for that!

Phoned the hotel directly and receptionist apologised and said she had no idea how that happened... She said she would refund my card but didnt know when the money would go back into my account as she had no control over that, it was the banks issue... I explained I had direct debits coming out and didnt get paid until the middle of the month but she was adament there was nothing she could do... Frustrating, but just human error I suppose!

Also with regards to the pre-authorisation, is that £50 per night as standard? And when does that get credited back into your aco!!!!?

    your so helpful!

Yeh it was East Kilbride which is on the outskirts of Glasgow... About 20mins away from City Centre by car! Luckily problem seems to be sorted now!

A refund normally takes about three working days to process.

Most hotels take between £20 and £50 preauth - no money is taken out of your account but it is taken off the available balance, so will affect direct debits etc.

However, because you have prepaid, you can ask the receptionist to put you on a "cash only" basis when you check in - this means you don't need to give a preauth but you can't charge meals, drinks, phone calls etc. to your room.

    Hi
Ive booked friends and family for the 22nd before we go away at the Crowne Plaza in Liverpool,we got an executive room for £69!!! thanks to Obukit, just one question though, when i filled my details in and it gave me confirmation it id quote the price of £69 but said it could change! i just hope i dont end up paying a fortune because ive booked an executive room!!! could this happen!!!
Thanks again Obukit your a real star:T xx
    Hi,

The bit about changing prices refers to the tax you pay - the quote is based on VAT at 15% but what they're basically saying is if the government put a £50 tax on hotel rooms tomorrow you've got to pay it . However, once a room has been booked and confirmed the hotel will honour the price, no matter what happens thereafter - so there's no need to worry :).

Hope that helps and you enjoy your exec room!

    hi,

i just checked in today at the Express at Glasgow Riverside, with the rate booked from your link. The manager there has no idea about the bottle of wine deal, he also called somewhere (to his supperiors) and nobody was aware of this. Can you recommend any actions for me, to get that bottle of wine ?? :)

    thanks

it seems like i can get an even better deal if i book my whole trip (flights and hotel) through lastminute.com and still stay at the same holiday inn in nyc...

am i getting my calculations wrong or are there any drawbacks to doing thngs this way?
