No problem - in case anyone else is wondering all the links are in the first post. Please also remember you need to print the voucher linked to from the IHG site and present it when you arrive at the hotel.
I'll nominate your OP for post of the month, once I work out how!
meanwhile, I'm off to have a dabble.
thanks.0 -
Just a word about IHG online reservations:DO NOT ENTER A NAME INTO THE FIELD
"ADDITIONAL GUEST"
I did.
And suddenly, Holiday Inns has provided me with a menage a trois -- for £15 extra.
This may actually be exceptionally good value, but not when you're knackered after a long drive back from Barcelona to the UK.
Our Caen-Portsmouth ferry doesn't dock until 9.30pm, so as we can't be bothered driving another 200 miles north at that time of night, we've booked to stay overnight in Portsmouth. Two people, Mrs & Mrs Yorksrabbit. A room with a double bed: no rollaway, no sofa bed, no extra bed. As the booking says: "room suitable for 2 people only".
Overnight rate -- thanks to Kit -- £81. And I've the confirmation receipt to prove it. However. . . When filling in the online booking details, I encountered this:As an added convenience, you may list additional guests on your reservation. This simply includes their names on your reservation. It does not impact how many adults and / or children you have specified for your room reservation.
So I entered my wife's name and that was that. No problem.
The booking was made last night. Today I decided to use my Priority Club account to check the reservation and discovered it had changed from £81 for two people in a double bed to £96 for, er, three people in a double bed.
Having been married many, many years, I can just about cope with one Mrs Y in bed but the presence of a second Mrs Y is, well, daunting.
So I've had to ring IHG reservations in the UK and go through the following:
Me: Hi. There seems to be a problem with reservation number. . . . It's a double room with a double bed for Mrs Y and myself.
IHG: Ye-es. . .?
Me: Well apparently, now there's somebody else in bed with us. Another woman with the same name as my wife.
IHG: Sorry? You want three in a bed?
Me: No. Well. I might. Not now. What I mean is, you've put me in bed with two women instead of one. And it's now £96 instead of £81.
IHG: You've changed your reservation?
Me: No. I haven't. It's only a double bed, after all.
IHG: They're very comfortable.
Me: Well they probably are for two, but we're talking about three people in a bed now and I need to sleep after such a long drive.
IHG: When did you add this extra guest?
Me: I didn't. My wife isn't an extra. I mean, it's not like she's some kind of option. Your computer added the extra lady and that's made it go up. Made the price go up.
IHG: Ah. . . Ri-ii-ght. It's just you and your wife.
Me: Yes. Boring, isn't it?
IHG: Not three people then.
Me: That's why I said 'boring'.
IHG: And you'd like me to change the reservation, then.
Me: Well if you've anybody there called Fifi . . . No. Best change it.
I'm assured the reservation is now as it should be. . .0 -

I've managed to book 2 nights stay at the Holiday Inn in Newport. 2 rooms with an connecting door for £160 all in. Kids in one room and the wife and me in the other.
:j
How do you get interconnecting rooms?
Also do all rates include breakfast?
Lastly if I want to book for October are these rates still applicable as OP says expired but still seems on then?0 -
Thank you so so much Obukit. Well done for sharing. Your post has saved me quite a few Euros in Italy for July.:j
I have booked the Holiday Inn in Palermo for 2 nights on the Friends and Family, 2 nights in Siracusa on the 2 for 1 and 2 nights in Venice.
With Ryanair cheap flights thrown in, it will be a much less costly 10 days spent at the beginning of the school hols. :T
I did see another post before yours from another IHG worker, however not as informative as yours. However, as someone reported it as spam, it never took off.
Thanks once more!0 -
:T Thanks for posting Obukit - have booked a few days away over Easter weekend in UK. Great savings! Will be looking to book again for my travels in Asia during August.
This has been one of my best finds on MSE. :j0 -

All Express by Holiday Inns/Holiday Inn Expresses include complimentary continental breakfast. All other hotels don't, unless otherwise stated on the website, although often if you call the hotel in advance you can pay a supplement to add it on which is quite a bit cheaper than paying for it on the day.
The expiry date is the date by which bookings have to be made (although it will probably be extended past this I think). Your stay dates can be any time at all, just make sure you save a copy of the voucher in case they no longer have it on the website.
Thank you to all of you for your thanks - I hope you all enjoy your cheap rooms.

We've sorted out our first round of bookings and all's well, so this is by way of a big 'thank you" to Kit for all the help.
This note is also an expression of regret at MSE's decision to shut down the "Post of The Month" facility.
Whatever the reason, its loss does seem at odds with the spirit of generosity that sums up the MSE ethos. Why not bring it back, then, in revised form?
Posters (like Kit) aren't in it for the money, so there's no need to attach a cash value.
But posters (like Kit) are certainly worthy of special recognition -- so why not a 'Post of The Month' for each board (here, for example, the 'Home & Play' POTM).
Just a thought. . .0 -
