can you please say what is the difference between HOLIDAY INN GLASGOW CITY CENTRE-THEATRELAN and Express by HOLIDAY INN, looks like they are in the same complex ?? am i right in saying that Holiday Inn should be better ??

Although the Express one is rated much better at the Tripadvisor..

They're next door to each other, HOliday inn Express, is a more basic hotel (like travel inn standard) with a continental style breakfast, Holiday Inn is a more superior hotel with more comfortable rooms and a cooked breakfast!

Hi guys. Just stopped at the Holiday Inn Express in Hammersmith and had a great two day break for £99 for the two nights. I'm trying to at least mirror this price for the 10th and 11th August in the same location but not having much luck. Anyone any solutions or am i clutching at straws ?
A male chef of 4. My restaurant is always full and i don't need to tout for business.
    OK OK
I'm a house husband but it did sound better my way

The Express in Glasgow has very good management and has consistently been in the top five hotels in our in-house guest satisfaction survey. However, it's worth remembering that value for money plays a large part in satisfaction, so the Holiday Inn may be "nicer", just more expensive. Plus, Expresses don't offer cooked breakfast or room service, so if these are important to you, go for the Holiday Inn.

Promotional rates are typically released around three months beforehand, when the hotel has forecasts for future room sales made, so it might be worth trying a bit closer to the time. Although London is holding up better than the rest of the UK, all hotels are feeling the pinch at the moment so I can't see why you wouldn't get a very good deal :).

Checked again this morning and can now, again, get the London Hammersmith for just £20 more than we paid this month on the Two For One offer but it says it expires on the 5th May 2009. Would we still be ok booking this deal but going in august ?

Thanks again for all your help. Its really appreciated.

Once an stay is booked everything is fixed - so there's no problem there. However, prices for the hotel may come down - unlike Travelodges each IHG hotel does their pricing manually in each hotel and so, especially at the moment, it means that prices have been slashed as rooms aren't selling. I know that, at least in my hotel, some people have booked Advance rates a few months ago and have paid even more than current walk in rates - our hotel has cut it's rates over 20% from six months ago, many have cut them far more.

So, you MIGHT get it cheaper if you wait a bit. Having said that, Two-for-one is usually a very good deal and so if you're happy with the price, book it, because no-one knows what the future will hold :).

    Hope that helps somewhat!

Hi Obukit: sincere thanks for all the informative posts and the advice provided -- much appreciated.

Just a quick query; I guess I'm being particularly thicker than usual, but I can't find any web page link to the "Friends & Family" facility.

Is the link on the IHM website or each individual hotel's??

UPDATE: I'm an idiot. Have found the link. Doh!!!

;) No problem - in case anyone else is wondering all the links are in the first post. Please also remember you need to print the voucher linked to from the IHG site and present it when you arrive at the hotel.
