Tried to join this offer today, I was told that the offer was only for customers switching from cable.

Any one had this problem? Did anyone get around it

I don't think BT are allowed to discriminate, also the terms of the offer do not mention cable only.

From my friends' experiences they apparently do not check, so just say you are currently a cable customer and they will let you have the offer.

This offer is covered by BT notice no. 25/08:

    http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/Public/history/01-07-2008/Notice08_boo/FrameworkImpl268785.htm

If you have more problems, ask for a manager and ask be given the offer in that notice, and ask him to show you where the notice refers to cable switchers.
  • Called the 0808 100 2425 number today and they said they have systems problems so cannot process orders, as they cant check if there's a line or not in a new built house?

I've been told to call back tomorrow.

Didn't even get onto the offer part of the conversation!

BT have finally got their systems back up today.
It seems the only staff aware of this deal are at the end of 0800 800 880 so try this.

Did you have any luck? Did they take your order for £30?

I still need to ring back and try again. Just hope I dont get the "this is only for cable customers coming back" line again.
  • Woo-hoo!

Got it this morning on the 0800 800 800 number. :j :T

We have been with Virgin Media for tv, broadband & phone since we moved in this house 4 years ago. I want to get Sky-3 for £26 now and there is a bt line (not working though!) . The £30 offer seems really good except the 10 inclusive/ chargeable calls condition. Is it possible to make calls via bt while using sky? I remember MIL using onetel long time ago and there was prefix no. which you could use to make the call via bt while all other calls went through onetel.

As long as you leave your line rental with BT, the prefix is 1280.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

The deal is open to all. - ordered mine yesterday. They said however they'll charge the full £125 and refund the £95 over the contract
