Well i'm going to cancel too. Like others on the board, I've never had an issue with MS - the online account service and customer relations were nver less than brilliant IMHO, but this is just a joke. I spoke to CS yesterday and complained about the online servicing, threatening to leave and was told that they've not had enough time to set up allowing for all of the customers, to which I replied they've had since March to set up for this day and still not got it right. The guy pleaded with me to wait 24 hours to register for online account but he offered me nothing to keep my custom. I've never used Barclays online servicing, but don't think I'm going to like it, so am gonna pay off my bill (somehow!) and move to a diff cashback card. I'll never use Barclays again.

  • Just to confirm, I used to have a Morgan Stanley Platinum card and Barclaycard sent me their so called "cashback" card. Yes, the lady said my 1% cashback would last for 6 months only!

Although the internet service isn't available I was able to get through to the automated payment service and it seems to have been accepted OK.

    Quite a relief!

Just called Barclays "CS" to a "Shilpa" who informed me that my Morganstanley account is still active until the 28 Sept and that I will be able to pay any bills using the old system. Which automated payment service is functional, MS or Barclays???
  • Refering to my post starting this thread. It being the day after the 22nd I just called them (they have a national 01642 number so you don't have to pay for an 0844 call).

They reset the account and gave me a temporary passcode and told me I would have to change it first time I logged on. They seemed unable to deny or confirm the failed logons which locked me out were due to the account not yet being active.

Straight after the call I try to log on, it all works and I am asked to pick a new passcode which I do and then I fail to logon again. Tried once more and fail again. Telephone them again and they tell me the website is bust for ex-MS customers and should be working again in 48 hours.

As for cashback and charges, from the paperwork sent to me the deal seems to be the same as the MS card with some changes to the way cashback is calculated and credited. No fee and no 6 month cashback limit. Dunno what MS cards there were, think mine was Platinum and I was a pretty bad customer, hardly using the card recently and never paying interest.

I was suspicious that things may not go to plan, when I rang about 2 weeks ago to query why information about the changeover had not been sent with the new Barclaycard I'd just received.

The lady said that a 'Welcome Pack' ' ...which would explain everything', would be sent in the next few days to all new cardholders.

When I asked why there was no reference to this 'Welcome Pack' in the covering letter sent with the card, she couldn't understand that, if there HAD been a reference, I wouldn't have had to make the call I was now making !

So, come the fateful day, I didn't carry out the recommendation 'We recommend you cut up your old card and dispose of it securely'.

Today, I've successfully used my old Morgan Stanley card to pay for both groceries and fuel, although how I can check these transactions are processed correctly is anybody's guess, as I can't access my Morgan Stanley card online anymore !

My son (along with many others, I presume) expected his new Barclaycard to be active on the 22nd, and followed the recommendation.

Therefore, he has no working credit card, at the moment.

Not a very auspicious start, at all !

I have been using my new Barclaycard Cashback since Monday (22nd) with no problems, I haven't even tried to use my MS card.

I'm sitting on an unknown balance right now that I really should pay off soonish but have no way to check the exact balance. If what holmul says is not a miscommunication from Barclaycard then I'll be ditching and switching as I have no need for a high rate card with no benefits.

Thanks for all your input guys, keep the horror stories coming :)

I've just successfully managed to register my MS platinum-replaced Barclaycard and logged on. I can see both my recent transactions and the balance that I paid off last Friday. I am worried about the rumours of the cashback stopping after 6 months and if this is the case will close the account but at the moment it appears to be going smoothly for me.

I have to admit I am very surprised by this ;)
