O2 to start charging for 0845 & 0870 calls

The new tariffs which are set to be released at the end of this month have some new rules in place about Non Geographic Numbers, NGNs. The only NGNs to be covered by the inclusive minutes are the ones which would dial to speak to their own customer services, upgrades, retentions etc. The rest of them will be billed separatley at 20p/min, except 0871 which is to be billed at 35p/min.
Incidentally the calls to UK landlines and mobiles are also going to billed at 20p/min peak or offpeak.
Only new customer or those upgrading to the new tariffs should be affected by this change. It will not affect exisiting tariffs customers already have in place, although I suspect if you called up and asked to have your tariff changed you would be placed onto the new ones with the afore mentioned rates.
I have a close friend who works in their customer services department and expects there to be quite a increase in calls to query these new tariffs.0 -
Wow - such a shame really because it was what made them really stand out from the other networks for a lot of people. Hope its not true or they change their mind.0

all i found was this
http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/t...specialnumbers
The above was copied from grad15's earlier post if ofcom is introducing new 03 numbers to replace the current chargeable 0870 numbers and 02 is planning to treat 03 numbers as part of your inclusive minutes, Then i dont think any of us has got anything to worry about. When 02 started charging for 07744 numbers last year new 0870 access numbers for international calls were introduced, so i am drawing the conclusion that in the near future most 0870 numbers will be replaced by 03 numbers which will be part of your inclusive minutes...0 -

03 numbers will not solve the problem as no revenue sharing is allowed on them. Suppliers of cheap international calls would not therefore be interested in using them.;)
This will affect new customers only.If you stay on your existing tariff you will still have them included in your inclusive minutes.0 -
I was told they make huge losses on these calls to premium rate numbers. I said that was daft, as they are no more expensive to them than other network mobiles. I must have confused her, as she later described them as local rate0

Hello Everyone-new To The Forum
I Am Planning To Get A O2 Contract By The End Of The Month Of April (20th Onwards) From Mobileshop.com. As This New Contract Will Be Before May (the New Tariff) Will 0844/0870/0800 Numbers Be Included?
Should Be Grateful For Your Kind Input
Thankyou0 -
Sorry to hijack this thread but I also need to get a new O2 contract as my 1000 offpeak same network £20pm is due to expire and they are only offering me 100 quid to stay (last year they gave me £240). However there don't seem to be any good cashbacks arround on the current leisure time tariffs - unless anyone can point me to them....thanksI think....0

Pease.
I was on the 1000 offpeak mins, which ended in march. I was offered an upgrade , which encluded 1000 offpeak cross network mins for £26 per month and was also given £300 credit which would be paid into my account in 60 days. Thus making my line rent free for the whole year.
hope this helps.0 -

Helps very much thank you. What did you do to get offered this - did you need to threaten to leave and go to retentions or just ask for it directly? Had you been runnin glarge billls or anything?I think....0 -
