So why is SP Online Energy 7 coming out as the cheapest tariff in the online comparison sites? I have done a Dual Fuel comparison for both the London area and the South West and it's top in both using both Energyhelpline and Uswitch. And obviously this is without any cashback.

Not the tariff I (or BLF) was talking about. Check out SPs cheapest tariff WITHOUT an exit fee (you'll need to look a lot further down the page).

Having said that, I suppose you could sign up for the best deal with the exit fee, switch away and take the 'hit' of the exit fee and still make a profit. [STRIKE]Spanish[/STRIKE] Scottish Power are a crazy company, TBH. :D

I don't follow, which tariff? Quidco link takes you to New Online Energy Saver 7. Is the £110 cashback available on any SP dual fuel switch? But, unless you don't want to lock in until Nov '10, why would you go for any other tariff (unless you are looking for a fixed or capped one)?

You can also get £55 for a single fuel switch

  • I just switched through Quidco and it quickly tracked but is showing £60 and not the £110 as advertised. Is this likely to change or will I need to chase it up. I will just monitor it for the time being.
  • I switched through Quidco last night, duel fuel, has tracked as £30 not as £110. Have emailed them to find out actual amount of cashback. Be interested to know what others are tracking as?

I know we have had this 'conversation' before but I do think it pertinent to make the point again - if you are planning to switch regularly therefore you will need to sign up for the tariff BLF highlighted as it has no exit fee. Only problem being this tariff is so expensive as to make the financial benefits of switching almost non-existent. In my Yorkshire region and on average consumption that tariff is £240 per annum more expensive than the cheapest tariff! £20 a month on average. Taking into account we are entering the time of year when we use the most energy and that £20 a month figure will be inflated to maybe £30-£35 per month. It will be 3 months minimum before you manage to switch away so it's entirely possible that you will see no actual profit from this (on the surface) extraordinary £110 cashback figure.

Do your sums before going for this would be my advice (the Sunday closing date is designed to panic you IMO).

Very good points. I've recently fallen foul of this with my switch to SP via Quidco back in April. Only got £62 (out of £100), fighting for rest. Even if I do get it I've worked out I'll be out of pocket due to my paying SP inflated prices for too long (waiting for full cashback to track).

So do your sums people! :money:

PS I'd go as far as to suggest not using Quidco for the above reason.

Signed up to Dual Fuel via Quidco this morning, has just tracked, but only at £60, not £110. Quidco are still showing the offer at £110. Does anyone know what's going on here?

I too switched to Scottish power this morning via Quidco and it has only tracked at £60. Although I guess this is one step further than recent Quidco transactions which virtually all have failed to track...

I hope they sort this out as it appears to be happening to everyone.

Not sure how it can be advertised at £110 and then give £60, surely this is false advertising?
