  • Morning all :)

I managed to behave myself quite well last night and only had half a bottle of red wine :D Still had a really good fun evening though and managed to resist the toast and marmite!

ajax I knew what you meant and it made me chuckle :D

Lois lucky you going to Vegas!! My sister is off there next month to get married and I'm exceptionally jealous!

petrichor you're so right about it being good to have incentives... I have a few to keep me going up til about Christmas time... my sisters hen night on the 6th October, then her post wedding party on the 3rd November. I'm going to see My Chemical Romance mid November and Mika at the beginning of December, so by thinking only a couple of weeks ahead I hope its going to be easier to stay focussed :)

julesgr I haven't managed to get my head around the exercise part yet, it's something I need to think about doing soon!

I'm making a roast dinner today as its my son's last weekend at home before he heads off to Uni :( I'm doing the chicken in the slow cooker so there's no crispy skin to tempt me, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots and cabbage. I'll probably do some roast potatoes for the kids and have to try really hard not to eat any :D definitely not going to do stuffing though as there is absolutely no way I wouldn't be able to stop myself eating a sizeable chunk of it!!

Hi all - just a quickie as we're about to go out visiting the elderly (our respective mothers!).

Ajax, you're such a naughty boy - you make me laugh out loud! :rotfl: You might have caught Delly at a bad time but I know exactly what you meant!

Julesgr - welcome to the thread. I'm of the same opinion about exercise, it is definitely what works for me - now all I have to do is get myself motivated to do more so I'm going to sign up for a gym.

    Petrichor -
    (remember Grissom's mine  )
    - that's lost on me... please explain. :)

Have a good day everyone. Catch up with you later.

... thank heaven for that, I thought I was going to have to explain "Location, Location, Location" then :D
  • I know!! I'm soooooo excited!! And of course Gerard Way will be falling madly in love with me as soon as he see's me :D

Half Man Half Biscuit .. wow they've been going sometime now haven't they?? I remember them from back in the eighties (only just though as I'm only 21 :D)

.... yeah, been going a good 24 years or so now. As all the songs are social commentary though, there's always new material and it just gets funnier. In 1985 they took the mick out of Trumpton and Dean Friedman, now it's Carphone Warehouse and Korn.

    A1969 baby... 21... ? Something doesn't add up :)

Whats a GP referral atthe gym?

I do enjoy swimming and have been a member of a gym for a couple of years, however not used it for ages. Still thinking about joining slimming world for a bit of support! Also, it does help me to have to get weighed evey week

In our area you can be referred for a GP referral class.
You go twice a week for so many weeks at a set time & do a gentle programme tailored to you.
Its to help you get a wee bit fitter & then the hope is that you continue once your 'class' is finished.
So I do 5 mins on bike, 5 mins on tradmill .................
It helps me as am disabled & wouldent have just gone to the gym as felt everyone else was so much more able to do things.

My DD went to see MCR last year and really enjoyed them, she's a Gerard Way fan too, but she's gone off them slightly as too many young girls (ie under 12s) like them. I currently like the Foo Fighters although I think they'd be  to know that someone of my age likes them (Dave Groel is ;):o )...Your dinner sounds lovely and good for you not to do things that you know will tempt you ie the crispy chcken skin, it's been years since I had any and now can't imagine eating the greasy stuff :j ...

    .....ooooh "Stuff Christmas - Have A Happy Turkey" ;) ... .

Actually I didn't mean to imply that I wouldn't be doing a meat dinner, I just thought I'd make a veggie option available for anyone to try. It seems that your dinner isn't any different to most folks except for the Quorn roast. I'd read some while ago of a veggie that did something spectacular with chestnuts etc, as a special treat for Christmas, not that I'd want to go that far...

...Out of interest will any of you other lovely peeps be doing something different this year. Tallgirl will you be doing anything Danish like? ...

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
  • petrichor I know what you mean about the young girls... I'm going with my best friend.... and my 12 year old daughter  my life wouldn't have been worth living if I had gone without her. I love the Foo Fighters too :D

I haven't decided what to do for Christmas yet, but if my memory serves me correctly its my turn to have everyone round!! Unfortunately this means I'll have to get all manner of goodies in...... :D

    ... taking it what way, I wasn't aware we'd discussed specifics ;)

Oh God I'm really slow. OH got up and I went back to bed for a few hours. The sleep made a difference - now I get you. 000200B8.gif

Lois I already have a gym membership that I haven't used much since July (I know not very MSE but it's only £10 per month). I keep meaning to get back but found that whilst it was doing me some good, it didn't do much for my stamina and I took the dog walking instead to try and build it up before I go back. I was considering going back again last week when I got word that my operation was going to go ahead and now I don't know what to do. After my Op I'll have a 2 week recovery.

    Any suggestions anyone?
