    Hi bigmoodog,
The 8 weeks commences from the date that the bank receives your 1st letter asking for a refund. Probably at the most, 2 days after posting. BOS have tried it on with me, regarding the initial date, but by luck, I had phoned the ombudsman to ask for the correct address to send my request and they wrote to BOS on that day (19th April) advising them that they were aware of my claim. Don't let them fob you off stick to your timescale,
    Regards IZZY

had my claim for charges of £1186 rejected last week. have rung through today to ask for re-evaluation.
they asked me where i heard about this re-evaluation, i explained that i wished to pursue the matter with the ombudsman but they advised me to ask for this first.
they have now told me that i would get a decision within 8 weeks. i told them they have 28 days as this has been going on since 18th feb 2007.

Just the post i needed to see, similar claim dates ,not heard from letter no2 yet, but would imagine the same reply will drop through the post.
I will use similar tactics to yourself.
    GOOD LUCK.

hi can u tell me when u sent ur first letter (asking 4 money back) i phoned friday too so thinking of giving them a ring tomorrow.

Hi, first letter was 27th March. They seemed to have a pretty good idea of what they could offer me. I asked for the full amount and they said £450 was the best she could do!

halifax received my letter threatening court action on 14/05/07 where i stated i would like a reply within 14 days of them receiving it.
even allowing this to be 14 working days this would have passed on 31/05/07 so i called them on 01/06/07 and asked to be reinvestigated.

i then called on 04/06/07 to see when this may be done by and was told that it would take 8 weeks from my initial claim on which is 21/06/07.

i take it from what you said that they have only received your court letter so i was wondering if they gave you any reason why they dealt with your case so quickly.
I am claiming about the same amount as what you have been paid so hopefully they can resolve mine quicker than they have said.

Sorry can't really be of help. I rang 08457 253519 to ask them to look into it again. might be worth ringing them?

Another one 01244 694207 - not too sure if these numbers are for individual people. If you have any letters from them try the number at the top.

    Hi,

I phoned again this morning (01977 627422) and spoke to a lovely man who was much nicer than anyone else I had spoken to. Basically he said they are entitled to take up to 8 weeks to deal with a re-assessment but you generally hear about an offer within 2-3 weeks, if I haven't heard by 3 weeks then to phone back. I also slipped into conversation that I had passed on the details to the Financial Ombusdman (who I got a letter from yesterday saying they had started to investigate it!). I have done everything I can now, apart from MCOL which I can't afford just now. Will have to keep my fingers crossed:think:

Hi, from reading these, a lot of you seem to be going to the FO.
What is the process of doing this?

Do you phone them and if so what is their number, or do you send them a letter and if so what exactly do you tell them?

Is it just that you have lodged a request for the money or do you have to divulge all of the details ie send them exact copies of the letters you sent to the bank.

Im wondering if this would be a worthwhile step for me to take.
MCOL is out as i am not claiming enough to necessitate paying them £120 as read in another post.
