Hello,
I've been with AOL since 2 years and my contract is up.
I'm presently paying £9.99 per month and found O2 cheaper than AOL.
http://broadband.o2.co.uk/packages.jsp
Is O2 a better deal or shall i stick with AOL?
Please advise.
Thanks0 -
if your exchange is enabled for o2 llu (check here then is a much better deal, faster, no limits, cheaper! alos worth considering, if showing on the LLU list, sky/easinet.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Just noticed it's gone up to £40 as well,so that would mean on the £10 per month package, you would,in effect, get 4 months free on a 12 month contract, making it only £80 for the first year.Bargain.
However,I want to know if I can use my exisiting wireless router, (Philips.) or if I would have to use their wireless box.
I'll ring them tomorrow,if I get the chance, and see what they say.

Right.. i'm on it now.. took a good 2 minutes to change over. Unplugged old box, plugged in new one (even uses old power supply), reconnected wireless using new WEP key on the side of the box.. bang, internet is on.
Seems ok but i've not pushed it.
It's worth noting that my old Be* box never stopped working. i had 0 downtime while I did this0 -

I'm on o2 broadband and joined up last month, I am on the 16mb package, and to be honest I think the service is great, I download over 10gb per day and there is no slowing of my download speed. I was with bt last year and I thought their service was the worst I have ever encounteredThanks for saying thanks :beer:0

Hi,
I'm thinking of joining o2 soon, i have two computers next to each other and they are both connected to my router with an ethernet cable.. Does your router o2 sent you have 2 ports to put ethernet cables into...
I only signed up to tiscali for a year but am going to leave them after being with them 18 months, i hoping there won't be a cancellation fee or i don't have to ring their hopeless customer service to port over to o2..
Thanks in advance0 -
Just requested my mac code form F2S,via e.mail, and have also spoke to a guy from 02 about some technical issues.
Just a case of waiting now,and at least if I'm not happy with 02,I have the 100 day guarantee to get out if I need to.
Decided to go for the 16 meg package @ £10,which is half of what I'm currently paying for an alleged 8 meg service, but the most I usually get at the moment is 1.8 meg.
We shall have to wait and see.

Another couple of questions please..
Its says on o2's website that you have to pay another £5 a month if you want a static IP.. what is this..
And i'm currently with tiscali but if i phoned them tomorrow for my MAC key and then phoned O2 and joined them would i still be able to use the internet whilst waiting to get my router to log on to O2 broadband or will i be offline for a while..
Thanks in advance0 -

The o2 wireless box is a hi spec box with modem and router and firewall and Wireless and 2 phone VoIP and landline and even an on/off switch but MOST importantly FOUR regular Ethernet 10/100 ports.
As "thinking of joining o2 soon" I suggest you make your mind up within next 6 days (ie before 31st) as then you'd get three offers that are timetabled to fall away:- £40 cashback from www.quidco.com if signing entirely via them
- 100 days cashback/bale out from o2 IF you decide you dont like the service after you join them
- free connection to the o2 service
You should request a Migration Authorisation Code "MAC" from Tiscali and use that to authorise o2 to take over your ADSL service, that way you only lose typically a few mins (sometimes few hours) of ADSL service. Tiscali HAVE to give you that within 5 working days.
You'll likely find you're committed to giving Tiscali 30-days notice of leaving them and hence have to pay up for those 30 days even if you MAC migrate before then. Worth speaking to Tiscali to be sure (note names, any reference numbers and what they say of course) what they are claiming - eg they MIGHT say you "re-rated your service to a new speed/package and hence started a fresh 12m contract" but if you've just left it running along it's likely you can bale out.
Good luck0
